I have duly received your letter from the day of the hilula* of the Alter Rebbe* (see note 1), in which you refer to the intensification of study and of the hours devoted to it.

At the end of your letter, you mention that you are endeavoring to establish the third Shabbos* meal (see note 2) for the high school students (see note 3).

There is no need to describe the importance of all this. And one can observe concretely the success that flows from being close to the students. In this way, these memories will be engraved within them more easily and more deeply than through other means.

Moreover, the holiness of Shabbos also plays a role. Indeed, it affects even the person who is completely ignorant, as Tractate Demai* observes at the beginning of chapter 4. How much more so is this the case for students — especially at the time of the Minchah* prayer of Shabbos, the revelation of "the Will of all wills."

May Hashem* grant that you know success in all the points about which you write to me. And our Sages have given, in this regard, the following assurance: "If you make efforts, they will be crowned with success."

The merit of the founder and leader of the yeshivah*, my father-in-law, the Rebbe, who protects us and whose hilula (see note 4) approaches, will assist you in reducing the obstacles and the veils and in multiplying success.

נתקבל מכתבם מיום ההילולא של רבנו הזקן, בו כותבים אודות ההוספה בלימודים, שעות הלימוד וכו', ובסיום מכתבם אשר משתדלים לסדר סעודה שלישית בש"ק בשביל תלמידי ההאי-סקול.

וגודל ענין זה בודאי למותר להאריך בו, כי הרי רואים במוחש הצלחת קירוב תלמידים ע"י ענינים כאלו, ואשר נחקקים הדברים עי"ז בנקל יותר ובעומק יותר מאשר בדרכים אחרים, וביחוד אשר קדושת יום השבת מסייעת בזה, שהרי פועלת קדושה זו אפילו על עם הארץ גמור (עיין דמאי ריש פרק ד') ומכש"כ בתלמידים, ובפרט בעלות המנחה דש"ק רעווא דכל רעווין.

ויה"ר שיצליחו בכל הסעיפים אודותם כותבים, וכבר הובטחו ע"ז במאמר רז"ל הידוע - יגעת ומצאת,

וזכות מייסד הישיבה ומנהלה הוא כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אשר יום ההילולא שלו ממשמש ובא, יעמוד להם למעט ההעלמות וההסתרים ולהרבות ההצלחה.
