Greetings and blessings,

You refer to a certain subject that could be taught to the students (see note 2) by a non-Jew. It is clear that this question has several aspects. For instance, it may involve the teaching of history, which in any case depends on non-Jews, but for which one has the choice of treating the history of the nations or that of Israel. There are also other aspects, other elements, that come into play. The administration of the yeshivah* must therefore deliberate on this matter, taking into account all the factors of which it is aware.

Of course, it is not sufficient to know the title of the subject being taught. The details of the curriculum can also affect the way it is viewed. In practical terms, one can easily obtain this curriculum, which is surely published and known to anyone who takes an interest in the subject.

I am surprised that you say nothing about Yud Kislev* (see note 3), Yud-Tes Kislev* (see note 4), and Chanukah*, although your letter is subsequent to these dates. You will surely complete all of this in your next letter.

... במ"ש אודות לימוד ענין פלוני לתלמידים ע"י אינו יהודי מובן שישנן בזה כמה פרטים (ולדוגמא לימוד דברי ימי עולם, שנמסר בלא"ה לאינו יהודי אלא שישנה הברירה אם שילמוד דברי עמים נכרים או דבנ"י) ועוד כמה אופנים וחילוקים שלכן על הנהלת הישיבה להתייעץ בזה מתאים להפרטים שידעו, ומובן שאין מספיקה ידיעת השם הכללי של ענין הלימוד אלא שפרטי התכנית יכולים להשפיע על היחס לזה והרי בקל ישנו להשיג התכנית שבטח מודפס וידוע לכל המתענין...

לפלא שאינו מזכיר אודות ימי יו"ד וי"ט כסלו וחנוכה אף שנכתב מכתבו לאחריהם ובטח ימלא במכתבו הבא.
