To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter from this Sunday. You tell me that you read with sorrow what I wrote concerning the weakening of the dissemination (see note 2). You justify this situation by saying that this dissemination has not totally ceased.

It does not seem to me that I used the word "totally." I only spoke of weakening. But concretely, a weakened dissemination means that a very reduced number of people have received Chassidus* books, and therefore that many no longer receive them. And who knows? One must use every opportunity, including those that do not seem fitting, and you know, on this subject, the words of the Rebbe Rashab*, reproduced in the introduction to Kuntres U'Maayan*, page 22.

I do not wish to say more, since you assure me that in the future all of this will be repaired. May Hashem grant that this repair be worthy of the name — that is, that it conform to what the Alter Rebbe* explains at the end of chapter 9 of Iggeres HaTeshuvah*.

I thank you very much for the good news of the multiplication of public classes in Chassidus*. You are one of those who occupy themselves with this, and you yourself teach Chassidus* in various locations. No doubt you will develop this activity, especially since Hashem has granted you attentive students. May Hashem grant that they in turn become sufficiently moist to moisten others. You will consult tractate Eduyos*, chapter 4, which refers to people whose students themselves form students.

Certain Orthodox groups in the holy city of Jerusalem are not open to all. One who has access to them must therefore make full use of the opportunity thus offered, for there is a special merit in this — you must understand this.

I have written in this vein to the great Rav and chassid*, Rav Avraham Tzvi HaKohen (see note 3). It would be good for you two to consult and collaborate, particularly in this domain. One can verify in practice, and our Sages confirm it, that a burden jointly lifted by two people can be far heavier than double the burden of each taken separately.

May the well-known decision of the Heavenly Court therefore be fulfilled in you — that due to the self-sacrifice of the Alter Rebbe* (see note 4), those who are connected to him and follow his path will prevail in all that concerns Torah*, fear of Hashem, and good deeds.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מיום הראשון, ומה שכותב שהי' לו צער ממה שכתבתי ע"ד החלישות בהפצה ומצטדק שהרי לא הי' הפסק הפצה לגמרי.

כמדומני ברור שלא כתבתי "לגמרי", אלא רק ע"ד חלישות אבל בהנוגע לפועל חלישות בהפצה אומרת שהגיעו ספרי דא"ח למספר קטן יותר של אנשים, ז. א. שבהנוגע לכמה אנשים הופסק הדבר, והרי אין אתנו יודע עד מה וצריך לנצל כל הזדמנות ואפילו שאיננה מתאימה לסדר וכידוע דברי כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהרש"ב נ"ע נעתקו במבוא לקונטרס ומעין עמוד [] עיי"ש, ואין רצוני להאריך בזה כיון שכותב שלהבא יתקן הדבר, ויה"ר שיהי' התיקון מתאים לשמו שאז הוא כהמבואר באגרת התשובה לרבנו הזקן סוף פרק ט'.

מהלוקחים חלק בראש בזה ולומד דא"ח ברבים בכמה מקומות ובודאי יוסיף בזה ובפרט שחוננו השי"ת בתלמידים מקשיבים, ויה"ר שגם התלמידים יעשו טופחים ע"מ להטפיח ויעוין בתוספתא עדיות פרק ד' מי שיש לו תלמידים לתלמידיו כו'.

כיון שלא לכל אחד יש יכולת הכניסה לחוגים מסוימים בין החרדים אשר בירושלים עיה"ק ת"ו מובן שכל אחד שיש לו יכולת זו צריך להשתדל לנצלה ביותר וביותר, כי זכות מיוחדת היא וד"ל. וע"ד מה שכתבתי גם להרה"ג והרה"ג כו' אברהם צבי הכהן שי' וכדאי שיתייעצו שניהם יחד איך לשתף פעולה במיוחד בענין זה וכנראה וכמובא גם ברז"ל אשר משא שמגביהים שנים בשיתוף פעולתה היא הרבה יותר מכפל של משא הנגבה ע"י יחיד, ויקוים בהם פס"ד של בי"ד של מעלה הידוע אשר בגלל המס"נ הלזו - של רבנו הזקן - הנה בכל ענין של תורה יראת שמים ומדות טובות תהי' יד מקושריו והולכי בעקבותיו על העליונה.
