Greetings and blessings,
You tell me that your conscience is troubled regarding the question you asked (see note 1). It is clear that the Torah* imposes such an obligation upon the husband (see note 2). And there are other reasons as well.
The Rav whom you consulted will surely explain all of this to you. In various domains, a stringent approach from one perspective turns out to be, from another perspective, a leniency. You will therefore approach this Rav once more, and he will provide you with all these explanations (see note 3).
No doubt you took advantage of the luminous day of Yud-Tes Kislev* (see note 4) and of Chanukah*, to the fullest extent necessary. May Hashem grant you success.
