Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from the second day of Chanukah*, in which you refer to a person suffering from an eruption...

Most often, the cause is a general weakness and also a nervous condition. One must therefore strengthen one's health and one's nerves.

Recently, the most effective method consists of not thinking about one's condition and serving Hashem joyfully, as explained in various texts — in particular the Rambam, at the end of the Laws of the Lulav* and in the Laws of Opinions. The Tur Shulchan Aruch*, chapter 231, mentions the principle: "In all your ways, know Him" — and it is clear that these ways must be joyful.

Since you were his emissary to pose this question to me, may Hashem grant that you also be his emissary to convey good news — the improvement of his condition.

With blessing,

On behalf of the Rebbe shlita*,

the secretary,
