Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your undated letter, in which you ask how to repair the sin that is known (see note 1).

The best approach is as follows: to every extent possible, one must think neither about what happened nor even about how to repair it.

You should have engraved in your mind several chapters of Mishnah* and at least one or two chapters of the holy Tanya*. You should also know Tehillim* by heart and, when walking in the street, repeat them — at least in thought.

You should give a few coins to tzedakah* every weekday before the morning prayer. After prayer, every day as well, you should recite Tehillim* according to their monthly division.

You should influence the youth, in order to draw them closer to our Torah*, the Torah of life, and its mitzvos*.

Naturally, all of this is in addition to the essential point — that is, regret for the past and good resolutions for the future (see note 2).

By adopting such conduct, your situation will improve little by little. May Hashem grant that you give me good news of all this.
