To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and carries out a sacred mission,

Rav Yosef (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I have just received your letter of 22 Kislev*, along with its enclosure. You will find attached a provisional receipt, in accordance with your request.

I read with pleasure in your letter that you do not wish to modify what we discussed (see note 2), although it is currently difficult for you. Indeed, you know the saying (see note 3) of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, according to which when a person here below makes the decision to give to tzedakah* an amount that does not correspond to his current means, new channels are opened for him. He then receives additional means so that he can fulfill his commitment.

Moreover, you know the interpretation our Sages give of the verse: "Tithe, you shall surely tithe." They say: "Tithe in order to become rich" (see note 4). And it is also said: "Test Me, please, in this matter, says Hashem."

You refer to an available plot in the cemetery, on which stands half of a double tombstone that would need to be removed if someone purchases the plot.

In this matter, one must be extremely cautious, since it involves the honor of those who are in the World of Truth. The prohibition in this regard is particularly severe, and there is therefore no reason to place oneself in a doubtful situation — even if there is nothing prohibited in it, which itself remains to be established.

May Hashem grant you long days and good years, as well as your wife, to whom Hashem will also grant long life. You will intensify your commitment to the education of the children of Yisrael*, based on our Torah*, the Torah of life, given by the Elokim of life, the Source of life.

May Hashem grant that this increase be in keeping with the teaching of the days of Chanukah*, during which it is a daily practice (see note 5).

ז"ע נתקבל מכתבו מכ"ב כסלו עם המוסגר בו, וימצא בזה קבלה זמנית מתאים להוראתו.

ונעם לי לקרות במכתבו אשר אף שקשה לו הדבר עתה בכל זה לא רצה לשנות מאשר נדבר, ובפרט שידוע פתגם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, שכאשר האדם למטה מחליט לתת לצדקה סכום שאינו לפי יכולתו בהווה, באותה שעה פותחים מלמעלה צנורות חדשים על ידם יקבל השפעה נוספת למען יוכל למלאות הבטחתו, ובפרט ע"פ הידוע דרשת רז"ל על הכתוב עשר תעשר, עשר בשביל שתתעשר, וכבר נאמר ובחנוני נא בזאת אמר ה' צבאות.

במ"ש אודות המקום פנוי בבית החיים אשר נמצא עליו החצי מצבה כפולה, ובאם ירצה מי שהוא לקנות מקום פנוי זה, צריך יהי' להסיר המצבה וכו'.

והנה בענינים כאלו יש להזהר ביותר, כיון שנוגע בשטח כבוד הנמצאים בעולם האמת, וחמירא מאיסורא, ולכן אין כדאי להכנס בספק זה, אפילו את"ל שאין בזה חלק איסור, אשר גם בזה יש מקום לדון, ויאריך ימים ושנים טובות הוא וכן זוגתו שתליט"א, ויוסיפו בשטח חינוך בני ישראל בדרך תורתנו תורת חיים הניתנה מאלקים חיים מחי' החיים, ויה"ר שתהי' הוספה זו מתאימה להוראת ימי חנוכה דמוסיף והולך מיום ליום.
