Greetings and blessings,

I received, a few days ago, your letter regarding the sending of the Chiddushei Shai* (see note 2), and today the book itself arrived. I thank you. Although my time does not permit it, I will offer a few remarks, as you request, after having leafed through it quickly. My available time allows no more, and you will find these notes below.

We are entering the festival of lights with these days of Chanukah*, and may Hashem grant that you increase (see note 3) "the candle (which) is a mitzvah* and the Torah* (which) is a light," as well as the luminary of the Torah*, its inner dimension which, in our era, has been revealed through Chassidus* — in order to illuminate the darkness of the exile*, which is compared to the night, until the fulfillment of the promise that "the night shall shine as the day," at the true and complete Redemption, through our righteous Moshiach*, one of the eight men who receive anointing (see note 4), as the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, explains in his Torah Or*, pages 33d and 34c (see note 5).
