To the great Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter from the luminous day of Yud-Tes Kislev*, the festival of our deliverance and the freedom of our souls, with the deliverance and freedom of the Alter Rebbe*. I have also received the periodical you sent me and I thank you for thinking of it.

You ask me about the nusach* Ari Zal*, that of the Alter Rebbe*, in which one says "Morid HaGeshem*" — "He causes the rain to fall" — with two Segols* (see note 2), or again "Tikanta Shabbos*" — "You have established the Shabbos*" — with a Kuf* (see note 3). You should consult, on this subject, the Sha'ar HaKollel* on the Siddur* of my grandfather, Rav Avraham David Lavut.

I enclose our latest publications. You will surely make their content available to as many people as possible. The merit of all depends upon you.

One also finds "Geshem" with a Segol*, in particular, in the Siddur* Me'orei Or, in the Zichron Yehudah cited by the Likkutei MaHaRYaH*, and in the Darkei Chaim VeShalom* of the Rebbe of Munkatch*.
