To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem, of multiple accomplishments,

Rav Moshe Zalman (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

From time to time, I receive news of you and of the members of your family, to whom Hashem will grant long life, as well as of Chabad affairs in general. However, of late, the chassidim* write less than before, and especially less than what one would wish to know (see note 2).

You know the saying (see note 3) that we have heard many times from my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, according to which Chassidus* ensured that a chassid*, wherever he may be, wherever he may go, is never alone. For he remains permanently connected to all the other chassidim*. And if this is so even before one has met personally, it is all the more true, in a much stronger manner, after such a meeting has already taken place.

At the end of this week, we will celebrate the luminous day of Yud-Tes Kislev* (see note 4), regarding which the Alter Rebbe* said (see note 5): "He has redeemed my soul in peace… They were numerous with me." I am therefore certain that the chassidim*, wherever they are, will strengthen their mutual feeling and connection — not only in an intellectual manner but also in concrete action and, in the expression of our Sages, "each will participate in the joy of the other."

I hope to receive good news of your personal concerns and of your communal accomplishments, particularly the schools, the Yeshivah* Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak, and the Beis Rivkah* (see note 6). All of this together constitutes the dissemination of the wellsprings (see note 7) outward.

May Hashem grant that the news and letters be written in good health and in joy.
