Greetings and blessings,

After a long interruption, I have received your letter of the eve of Shabbos* Toldos, whose delivery was somewhat delayed. I read in it, with pleasure, that your salary problem has been resolved, which broadens your capacity to learn and to act in a disinterested manner.

In fact, the amount of the salary matters little. Above all, it is important to be able to put aside one's worries. Everything then becomes easier. This can be deduced from what the Rambam* says (see note 1) about the Messianic era. Its purpose is to bring (see note 2) tranquility and to develop wisdom, since one will be free to devote oneself to Torah* and knowledge (see note 3), even though in the material domain, "on that day, a man will live from a heifer" (see note 4), as our Sages explain in Tractate Sanhedrin* 94b.

I enclose a fascicle that has just been published. Surely you will make its contents available to as many as possible. The merit of all depends on it.

P.S.: You will surely participate in the chassidic* gathering on the luminous day of Yud-Tes Kislev* (see note 5), the day of our deliverance and the freedom of our souls. You will strengthen the dissemination of the wellsprings (see note 6) until they reach the outside.

You know the following ruling of the Rambam*, in his Laws of the Ritual Bath, chapter 9, paragraph 9: "If it flows outside the basin, the spring purifies by flowing" (see note 7). You know what the Mishnah* says on this subject: "You are not free to desist from it," and nothing can withstand determination.

לאחרי ההפסק הארוך נתקבל מכתבו מעש"ק תולדות שנתארך קצת דרך הילוכו, ונעם לי לקרות בו אשר נסתדר ענין המשכורת שסידור ענין הפרס מגדיל האפשריות דלימוד ומעשה שלא עמלק"פ, ובאמת אין נוגע בזה כ"כ גודל כמות המשכורת אלא היסח הדעת מהדאגות שנעשה אז בקל יותר ומובן זה גם מדברי הרמב"ם בהנוגע לימות המשיח שהוא בכדי שימצאו להם מרגוע וירבו בחכמה כי יהיו פנוים בתורה בחכמתה, אף שבענינים גשמים ביום ההוא יחי' איש עגלת בקר גו', וכדרז"ל סנה' צד, ב.

מוסג"פ קונטרס שהו"ל ובטח יזכה בתוכנו את הרבנים וזכות הרבים תלוי בו.

בודאי ישתתף בהתועדות דיום הבהיר י"ט כסלו גאולתנו ופדות נפשנו, ויוסיף בעניני הפצת המעינות (עד שיגיעו גם) חוצה. וידועה דעת הרמב"ם (מקואות ט, ט): הי' יוצא חוץ לבריכה אז דווקא דין מעין לו לטהר בזוחלין ובכ"ש. וכבר נודע דבר משנה בכגון דא ואין אתה בן חורין להפטר ממנה ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.
