To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem, who devotes himself to communal needs and bears a sacred mission,

Greetings and blessings,

I received, some time ago, your letter from Tangier, in which you mention the contract that has been signed, according to which you will be moving, in a few days, to Gibraltar (see note 2). May Hashem grant that this be at a good and fruitful time. You will there put the Will of Hashem into practice in a fruitful manner and disseminate authentic Judaism. You will elevate the cause of the Tradition of Yisrael*. For nothing can withstand the will, and the result is commensurate with the effort.

Various texts emphasize that in our era, no one knows how matters truly stand, how matter must be transformed. One must therefore serve Hashem in the manner described by our Sages in the following expression: "This world is like a wedding feast. Grab and eat, grab and drink."

In addition to the campaign for mitzvos*, in the literal sense, one must also act upon the consciousness (see note 3) and upon the duties of the heart (see note 4), upon the conduct and customs of the inner dimension of the Torah*, which in our era has been revealed in Chassidus*.

You pose the following question: During Shabbos*, the Ten Utterances of Creation return to their source, as indicated in the Likkutei Torah*. It appears that you are referring to Parshas* Haazinu, page 73c. If so, why does Creation not revert to nothingness, as explained in particular in the Shaar HaYichud VeHaEmunah*, chapters 1 and 3?

You should consult this question and the answer given to it in the Likkutei Torah*, in the chassidic* discourse entitled "Shuva Yisrael" ("Return, Yisrael*"), through chapter 2, page 66c, and more extensively in the Likkutei Torah*, Tazria, page 21c.

מזמן קבלתי מכתבו מטנזיר, בו כותב ע"ד החוזה שנחתם שבעוד איזה ימים עוברים לגיברלטר, ויהי רצון שיהי' בשעה טובה ומוצלחת וחפץ ה' בידו יצליח להפיץ שם עניני יהדות אמיתית ולהרים קרן ישראל סבא, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון כי לפום גמלא שיחנא.

וע"פ המבואר בכמה מקומות אשר בתקופתנו זו אין אתנו יודע עד מה בסוד הבירורים, ולכן צריכה להיות העבודה באופן המרומז במאמר רז"ל דהאי עלמא כבי הילולא דמיא חטוף ואכול חטוף ושתי, והרי ביחד עם התעמולה בעניני המצות כפשוטן נחוצה גם כן העבודה הקשורה בדיעות ובחובת הלבבות, וכן בהנהגות והדרכות פנימיות התורה שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות.
