To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I have received your letter, along with its contents. May Hashem grant you success in multiplying the participants in the Maamad* (see note 2), in accordance with the deep meaning of this practice. They will draw closer to the teachings of Chassidus*, to its customs and practices. You should consult chapter 37 of the Tanya*, which states: "With this money (see note 3), one could have sustained one's vital soul." It is therefore this life that one consecrates to Hashem.

But of course, one must tell them, explain all this to them. First and foremost, the point of vitality must spread through all their two hundred and forty-eight limbs and three hundred and sixty-five sinews of the soul, and then, in this way, through their two hundred and forty-eight physical limbs and three hundred and sixty-five physical sinews (see note 4). This is perfectly clear. Obviously, the one who makes efforts in this direction is rewarded first (see note 5).

It is in this connection that it is stated: "You shall be wholesome with Hashem your Elokim*." You should consult, in the Likkutei Torah*, the chassidic* discourse entitled: "Ki HaMitzvah HaZos" ("For This Mitzvah*"), chapter 2 (see note 6).

With blessing to give good news of all this, especially since we have entered the month of Kislev*, the month of deliverance (see note 7) and miracles (see note 8),

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו עם המוסגר בו, ויהי רצון אשר חפץ ה' בידו יצליח להרבות אנשי המעמד מתאים לכוונה האמיתית בזה, שיתקרבו לכל עניני תורת החסידות הדרכותי' והנהגותי' [עיין גם כן בתניא פרק ל"ז; ובמעות אלו הי' יכול לקנות חיי נפשו החיונית הרי נותן חיי נפשו לה'], אלא שפשוט שצריך לבארם ולהסבירם בזה, והעיקר אשר מנקודת החיות יתפשט בכל רמ"ח אברים ושס"ה גידים הרוחנים, ועי"ז לרמ"ח אברים ושס"ה גידים הגשמיים. וק"ל [מובן אשר המשתדל בזה לוקח חלק בראש], וע"ד מ"ש תמים תהי' עם ה' אלקיך, עיין לקו"ת ד"ה כי המצוה הזאת פ"ב.

בברכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור, ובפרט שהרי נכנסנו בחדש כסלו הוא חדש הגאולה והנסים.
