To the Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I have read with satisfaction in your letter that the number of your students (see note 2) is increasing, but it is clear that this is not yet sufficient. Surely you are striving to increase them, in quantity and in quality, among boys as well as among girls.

You mention a full-time Beis Rivkah* for the girls. It is clear that this is necessary, even if the beginnings are difficult. Of course, one must ensure that there is no dissension. There are surely various ways to reassure those who have doubts about this matter, fearing that their own school will be destroyed. Moreover, you note that the Rav (see note 3) is in favor of creating this school.

It is stated: "Your beginning shall be in hardship" — and as the Baal Shem Tov* emphasizes (see note 4), it is thereby that "your end shall greatly flourish" (see note 5). You know the teaching of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, that "when one installs a lamp in the darkness of the night, all gather around it" (see note 6). This is self-evident.

In the future, you will surely write regularly and with appropriate detail. May Hashem grant that this news be joyful, materially and spiritually.

Surely you will take advantage of the days of Yud-Tes Kislev* (see note 7) and Chanukah*, which are approaching, in a manner befitting your sacred mission, within the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch schools (see note 3). May Hashem grant you success.

נעם לי לקרות במכתבו מהוספה במספר התלמידים שי' אף שמובן שאין זה מספיק ובודאי משתדלים בהוספה הן בכמות והן באיכות, הן בנוגע לנערים והן בנוגע לנערות.

ובמ"ש אודות הבית רבקה לילדות לכל היום, מובן הנחיצות של הענין אפילו אם יהי' הראשית מצער, [אף שמובן שצריך לסדר באופן שלא יגרום למחלוקת, ובודאי כמה אופנים להשקיט את החוששים לזה שרוצים להרוס את המוסד שלהם, ובפרט כפי שכותב גם הרב מצדד לייסד המוסד], וכבר נאמר והי' ראשיתך מצער - וכפי' הבעש"ט עי"ז יהי' - ואחריתך ישגא מאד וידוע שיחת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר כשמעמידים פנס ברחוב בחשכת הלילה מתקבצים סביביו, וק"ל.

בודאי יכתוב בעתיד כסדר ובפרטיות הדרושה, ויה"ר שיהיו הידיעות משמחות בגשמיות וברוחניות.

בודאי ינצלו ימי י"ט כסלו וחנוכה הבע"ל כדרוש ומתאים לעבודתם בקודש במוסדי אהלי"י ליובאוויטש. והשי"ת יצליחם.
