To the great Rav, distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, of extensive knowledge,

Greetings and blessings,

I have just received your letter, which was delayed until Friday, the eve of Shabbos*. In the meantime, you have surely received mine.

I hasten to respond to the end of your letter. You say that you expect to obtain, in these days, from our friend Mr. Shazar, what he promised (see note 2). This amount will be remitted to you in the Holy Land, and it must therefore be used for matters concerning the Holy Land — if possible for the network (see note 3), which has been in a difficult situation for some time already. Please inform me of what is done in this matter. I thank you in advance.

Some time ago, I inquired whether it is true that supplements were added to the first volumes of the Talmudic Encyclopedia (see note 4). If so, please have them sent to me here. I thank you in advance.

You make reference to a concordance (see note 5) for the Tanya*. To tell the truth, while I think an index is particularly useful, I do not see the utility of a concordance at all, nor what it would contribute to the understanding of Chassidus*.

I hope that activities are being planned to take advantage of the festival days of the month of Kislev*, which is approaching, in the appropriate manner. May Hashem grant that this be fruitful.

ז"ע קבלתי מכתבו שנתאחר עד ועש"ק (ובודאי בנתים הגיעו מכתבי), וממהר הנני לענות עליו בקשר עם סיום מכתבו, אשר מקוה לקבל ימים אלו מידידנו מר שז"ר שי' מתאים להבטחתו... וכיון שמקבל הסכום באה"ק ת"ו יש כמובן לנצלו בעניני אה"ק ת"ו, ומה טוב בעניני הרשת אשר המצב שם דחוק ביותר זה מזמן, ובודאי יודיעני עד"ז ות"ח מראש.

זה מכבר שאלתי האם אמת הידיעה שהי' תוספת לכרכים הראשונים של

האנציקלופדיא התלמודית, ובודאי אם מתאימה- יושלח גם לכאן, ות"ח בעד זה.

במ"ש אודות קונקורדנציא לתניא, האמת אגיד, אשר כמו שלדעתי מפתח ענינים וכיו"ב מביא תועלת ביותר, הנה איני רואה הנחיצות בקונקורדנציא ובאיזה אופן יועיל להבנת עניני חסידות וכיו"ב.

תקותי שתמכננים פעולות לנצל ימי המועדים דחדש כסלו הבע"ל באופן הכי יעיל.
