To the Rav*, the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Shmuel Yosef (Rav S.Y. Findrik, of Netanya; see letter 4754),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from Erev Shabbos* and the one preceding it.

Of course, what you say is broadly correct regarding the campaign to be conducted among these people — for spreading Jewish values — and among those who raise supposedly scientific objections against the ideals of the Torah*.

Nevertheless, I have been able to observe that among most of these people, as I said in my previous letter, these reasonings are constructed after the will manifests itself and for the purpose of legitimizing it — they are therefore not objective. I have also written in this vein to the teachers' commission of the Chinuch Atzmai* educational network, which you surely know.

Despite this, it would be good to do something for the small minority that still reasons objectively. But unfortunately, there are not enough hands to write, edit, conduct campaigns, and even carry out the actions that all agree are beneficial for the greatest number — for example, the organization of chassidim* in the Holy Land and in other countries. No doubt you observe, where you are, the laxity in this matter.

One would need to federate the forces of those who act and who are capable of assuming communal responsibilities. And there are many other needs still.

במענה על מכתבו מעש"ק והקודם לו.

מובן שצודק ברוב כתבו, בהנוגע לתעמולה בין כו' ואותם הבאים בטענות שלדעתם הם טענות מדעיות וכו'.

אבל כמו שראיתי בכמה וכמה מהם, ברובם הכי גדול ה"ז כמו שכתבתי במכתבי הקודם, טעם הבא לאחרי הרצון הוא כדי להצדיקו, והוא ע"ד מה שכתבתי במכתבי לועידת מורי החינוך העצמאי, אשר בודאי ידוע לו. והנה מובן אשר למרות הנ"ל כדאי הי' לעשות אפילו בשביל מיעוטא דמיעוטא, אבל דא עקא שאין די ידים מספיקות כותבים מדפיסים מנהלי תעמולה וכו' ואפילו להעבודה דכולי עלמא מודים שהוא בשביל הרוב וכמו עבודת ארגון אנ"ש באה"ק ת"ו ובתפוצות (שבודאי רואה על המקום העזובה בזה) ארגון כחות הפעילים המוכשרים לעסקנות צבורי ועוד ועוד...
