Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter from Erev Shabbos*, in which you express your wish to hear an explanation regarding the fear of Hashem, for some people are distant from it.
May Hashem preserve you from stating that a Jew is distant from the fear of Hashem! Does the verse not say clearly: "For this mitzvah* is not far from you. The matter is very close to you, in your mouth and in your heart, to fulfill it" (Devarim* 30:14)? And you should consult the commentary of the Ramban*, according to which these terms apply to the mitzvah* of teshuvah*.
The holy Tanya* explains at length and precisely in what manner "the matter is very close to you" — not merely "close" but actually "very close." You should consult, on this subject, the beginning of chapter 17 and the beginning of chapter 18 of that work, defining the love of Hashem, which also includes His fear. See also the Likkutei Torah*, in the Chassidic discourse entitled "The Mitzvah."
It would be good to have your tefillin* checked, as well as the mezuzos* of your home, to ensure that they are kosher* in accordance with the halachah*. You should also establish a daily study of Chassidus*, in addition to the daily study of the Tanya*, which concerns everyone and belongs to the three well-known studies of the Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*.

במענה על מכתבו מעש"ק, בו כותב שרוצה לשמוע ע"ד ענין יראת ה' באשר ישנם שרחוקים מזה וכו'.
והנה ח"ו לומר על איש ישראל שרחוק הוא מיראת ה', והרי מקרא מלא דבר הכתוב כי המצוה הזאת גו' לא רחוקה היא כי קרוב אליך הדבר מאד (עיין שם בפירוש הרמב"ן דקאי על מצות התשובה), וכבר נתבאר בארוכה ובביאור היטיב בספר התניא קדישא איך שקרוב אליך הדבר ולא לבד קרוב סתם אלא מאד, עיי"ש ריש פרק י"ז וריש פרק י"ח, שהמדובר באהבה ונכלל בה גם דחילו. ועייג"כ לקו"ת ד"ה כי המצוה.
ומהנכון לבדוק את התפילין שלו וכן המזוזות בדירתו שיהיו כולן כשרות כדין, ושיקבע בכל יום לימוד בתורת החסידות, נוסף על השיעור יומי בתניא קדישא השוה לכל נפש אחד משלשת השיעורים דחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים.
