Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter, in which you tell me that you became engaged in recent weeks. You have already set the date of the wedding, at a good and fruitful time. However, you have just received information concerning the health of a person — who is not of sound mind — in the family of your fiancee. The addressee of this letter therefore asked the Rebbe whether he should maintain these engagements.
You will therefore continue to prepare the wedding, which has been planned for the coming Kislev*. It will take place in its time, and you will build an everlasting edifice, based upon the Torah* and the mitzvos*.
It is self-evident that the preparations for a wedding are essentially moral. One must intensify the study of our holy Torah*, Torah* of life, with ardor and enthusiasm, and fulfill the mitzvos* in the best manner. And you will completely forget all these rumors.
Thus you will maintain your connection and attachment with the Creator of the world, Who directs it. Indeed, the holy Zohar* says that "there exist three bonds dependent upon one another: Israel upon the Torah*, the Torah* upon the Holy One, blessed be He." He will guide you on the path that He deems positive, materially and spiritually.

במענה על מכתבו, בו כותב אודות השידוך שעשה בשבועות שעברו, וכבר הוקבע זמן החתונה בשעה טובה ומוצלחת, ועתה הגיעו אליו שמועות בהנוגע לבריאות מי שהוא ממשפחת המדוברת.
והנה ימשיך בההכנות להחתונה שהוקבעה בחדש כסלו הבע"ל, ותהי' בעתה ובזמנה ולבנין בית בישראל בנין עדי עד על יסודי התורה והמצוה, ומובן אשר הכנות לחתונה בעיקרן הן הכנות במצב הרוחני על ידי תוספת בלימוד תורתנו הק' תורת חיים בהתמדה ושקידה ותוספת בהידור בקיום המצות, ויסיח דעתו לגמרי מהשמועות, ובורא עולם ומנהיגו, על ידי שיתמיד בהקשור ודביקות עמו כאמור בזוהר הק' תלת קשרין מתקשראן דא בדא ישראל באורייתא ואורייתא בקודשא בריך הוא, ינחהו בטוב לפניו בגשמיות וברוחניות.
