Greetings and blessings,
I have duly received your letter of 5 Cheshvan*, with its contents, after an especially long silence and interruption.
Your letter seems to indicate that you are not occupying yourself with matters pertaining to Chabad*. It is clear that such an attitude has no justification, neither through the intellect of the domain of holiness nor even through common sense, even though it has unfortunately been adopted by several chassidim* in the Holy Land.
Certainly, I understand all the pretexts that one can advance — the fact that such-and-such a person does not lend his support. Several discourses explain that such justifications have an impact upon reward and punishment. On the other hand, they contribute nothing concrete toward strengthening what exists and still less toward developing it.
It is certain that what you do otherwise is particularly important, and that "one who is occupied with a mitzvah* is exempt from performing another." For all that, you undoubtedly have several hours each day during which you are not performing that mitzvah*. And you then seek other activities, while "I have not guarded my own vineyard" (Shir HaShirim* 1:6).
May Hashem grant that these words not be in vain, like a voice calling in the desert, and that in the end, they produce their effect.

במענה על מכתבו מב' מ"ח, בו כותב ע"ד בריאות בתו שתליט"א בהנוגע לעיני' וחוו"ד הרופאים.
ולכל לראש טרם יחליטו ע"ד נסיעה, הנהוג בכגון דא, אשר הרופא המטפל בה מתאר הידוע לו ממצבה והטפולים, ושולחים את זה להרופא אשר אותו רוצים לבקר, ובנדון דידן להרופא בבוסטון. כן נשמע כאן אשר הרבה מאה"ק ת"ו מתייעצים עם רופאים מומחים בשווייץ, ומהנכון לעשות את הנ"ל גם בהנוגע להם, שבודאי כמה היכירות בשווייץ יש למצוא ע"י מכיריו באה"ק ת"ו.
ועצם הענין כפי שמתארו במכתבו אינו מובן קצת, כי גודל הלחץ בעינים מבררים אותו בקל, ולכן צ"ע איך אפשר ספק בדבר, ועוד זאת אשר אם נעשה המיחוש באופן פתאומי, הרי יש מקום לאמר שזהו קשור בשאק (זעזוע פסיכולוגי) ואינו במכתבו כלל אם חקרו עד"ז והרי לזה טפולים מיוחדים, ואף שחשש פשוט הוא בכ"ז מצאתי לנחוץ לעורר גם עד"ז.
בעת רצון יזכירוה על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בכל האמור.
