To the distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem,

Rav D.[1],

I send you my greetings and blessings,

A) I have duly received your letters of 27 and 29 Nissan, to which were attached some proofs[2] of the Piskei Dinim*. I am surprised that you have not yet sent those of the Shulchan Aruch*. Can you send them to us as quickly as possible, along with the title pages of the Piskei Dinim*?

B) In the meantime, you have surely received my letter of Rosh Chodesh Iyar*, to which was attached the text of the discourse[3] and the corrections to the previous proofs.

Here are the corrections to be made to the proofs you have just sent me[4]. In the explanatory text, on line eleven, 'his Talmudic commentaries that are in press' must be replaced by 'his commentaries and responsa* that are in press.'

Two lines below, 'two volumes of Yoreh De'ah*' must be replaced by 'three volumes of Yoreh De'ah*.' Then, after Orach Chaim* there are three apostrophes where only one should appear.

As for the index, I was able to verify that publishers always apply a new numbering to it. It is therefore good to indicate the pages in accordance with this continuous system. Likewise, in the index of the second volume, the pages of the addenda and notes will need to be specified.

C) In accordance with the decision of my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita, we telegraphed you on Sunday, asking you to complete as quickly as possible the printing of the Shulchan Aruch* and the Piskei Dinim* that you have begun.

There is no need for these books to be bound on site. As you proposed, you will have them soft-bound only, gather them together, and send them as quickly as possible through those who are traveling.

Likewise, we are making efforts to procure a vehicle[5] for you once more. It will reach you from one day to the next, and as a result everything must be ready.

I repeat once more the instruction given by my father-in-law, the Rebbe. All of this must be accomplished as quickly as possible. I await good news as rapidly as possible — that our requests have been scrupulously fulfilled.

I await your letters bringing us this good news, and I greet all of yours,

א) נתקבלו מכתביו מכ"ז וכ"ט ניסן בצירוף עוד קארעקטן מהפס"ד. ולפלא שלא שלח ע"ע כלל הקארעקטן דהשו"ע. ונא למהר לשלחם, וכן השערים דהפס"ד.

ב) בינתים בטח קיבל מכתבי מר"ח אייר עם השיחה, וכן התיקונים להקארעקטן הקודמים. בקארעקטן דעתה צריך לתקן: ב"פרשת דבר" שורה י"א: "בחידושיו על הש"ס שבדפוס" וצ"ל "בחדושיו והשו"ת שבדפוס ". שם שורה ב' מלמטה: "יו"ד ב"ח". וצ"ל "יו"ד ג"ח". שם אחר תיבת "או"ח" נמצאו שלשה זאפיאטאיעס וצ"ל רק אחת. במפתחות: כיון שראיתי שבלאה"כ המדפיסים עושים נומעראציע חדשה כסדר, טוב שבהמפתח יציינו העמודים ע"פ נומעראציע זו, שהיא בלי הפסק מהתחלת הספר ועד סופו. כן צריך לציין העמודים גם להשמטות והערות (בהמפתח דח"ב).

ג) ע"פ החלטת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א - טלגרפנו לו ביום א' שימהר ככל האפשרי לגמור ההדפסה דהשו"ע והפס"ד בהקדם היותר אפשרי כיון שכבר התחיל בהם. ואין כדאי לכרכם שם, כ"א לעשות, כהצעתו, כמו בראשיורע, ולחבשם ולשלחם ג"כ בהקדם היותר אפשרי ע"י נוסעים. כן הננו משתדלים ע"ד שילוח מאשינע עוה"פ.

ואפשר בכ"י ויום שתבוא, וגם משו"ז צ"ל הכל מן המובן.

... אכפול פקודת כ"ק מו"ח אד"ש למהר בכהנ"ל. ואחכה לבשו"ט בהקדם ממילוי בקשותינו כנ"ל בפרטיות...
