To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, of manifold accomplishments, carrying out a sacred mission, Rav* Yosef (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings*,

I have just received your letter from the eve of Rosh Hashanah*. In the meantime, you have surely received mine, which wished you a good year. May Hashem grant that you will soon be able to give me good news of its content, and also of the establishment of the Talmud Torah* in the new location (see note 2).

You say nothing of your state of health and I therefore hope that you are feeling better. May Hashem grant that the improvement continues.

In its time, I asked the emissaries departing from here to visit you (see note 3) when they would be in Chicago. One who is entrusted with a mission is presumed to carry it out. And, if your state of health permits it, which I wish, I have good hope that as a result (see note 4), you will come here for a visit during the joyous days of Shemini Atzeres* and Simchas Torah*, and that we will then participate together in the farbrengen*.

You know the saying of the Alter Rebbe* (see note 5) that "what a farbrengen* can accomplish, even the angel Michael himself cannot do."

With my blessing* to be definitively sealed for a good year,

ז"ע נתקבל מכתבו מערב ראש השנה, ובטח בינתים הגיעו מכתבי בברכת השנה, ויהי רצון שבקרוב ממש יוכל לבשר טובות בתוכן מכתבו זה וגם בהנוגע לביסוס התלמוד תורה במקום החדש.

תקותי, כיון שאינו מזכיר בהנוגע לבריאותו, בודאי הוטב המצב, ויהי רצון שיוטב עוד יותר.

בשעתו בקשתי את השלוחים מכאן לבקר את כבודו ביחוד בהיותם בשיקאגא, וחזקה שליח עושה שליחותו, וכיון שתקותי שמצב הבריאות ירשה לכבודו את זה, הרי בטח יהי' המסובב שיבקר כאן בימים השמחים דשמע"צ ושמח"ת הבע"ל ונשתתף יחד בהתועדות, והרי ידוע פתגם רבנו הזקן, וואס א חסידישע התועדות קען אויפטאן קען אפילו מלאךמיכאל ניט אויפטאן.
