To the national directorate of the youth organization of Agudas Yisroel*, the youth of the Agudah* in the Holy Land, whom Hashem will grant long life,

Extensive greetings and blessings*,

I am responding to the announcement of your ninth national assembly, to be held during Chol HaMoed* (see note 2), which is approaching.

I read with pleasure in your letter that you are conscious of the responsibility incumbent upon Orthodox youth. It is their task to protect and save Jewish children, in danger of moral disappearance, Heaven forbid.

May Hashem grant that this awareness of responsibility passes from the world of thought and speech to that of concrete action.

I have already specified the role of Orthodox youth in this decisive period, in general, and, in particular, in the Holy Land, in the palace of the King, "the land toward which the eyes of Hashem are always turned, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year." I will recall it once more, in order to strengthen the zeal and to demonstrate its importance.

Divine Providence has granted you great good fortune in allowing you to belong to those whose portion is the Torah* of Hashem. And He has granted a particular quality to the young, who are filled with enthusiasm. These two elements confer upon you the particular responsibility of being among the first who act and who cause others to act, giving moral tzedakah* to those who are poor in spirit or in deeds. And this giving must be generous, with an outstretched hand.

In this month of Tishrei*, everyone has the duty and the merit "to renew his actions and to improve his actions." You must therefore take advantage of this propitious time to draw from it even more strength:

A) In the effort toward one's own self: one must achieve a sincere teshuvah*, submit to the Heavenly Kingship and to the yoke of the Torah*, fearing Hashem and fulfilling the mitzvos* with joy.

B) In the effort toward others: one must draw close to those who need this closeness, encourage those who must be encouraged, so that they come to teshuvah*, study the Torah*, observe the mitzvos*, and above all, conduct broad action, in all the ways just mentioned, so that every boy, every girl, every young man, every young woman receives a proper education, in the spirit of the Tradition of Yisroel*, without compromise.

"And the Holy One, blessed be He, said to Yisroel*: If you have improved your actions, I will leave the seat of rigor to take My place on that of mercy, and I will transform severity into compassion."

With my respects and my blessing* for considerable success, that you be definitively sealed for a good year, materially and spiritually.

שלום רב וברכה!

במענה על הודעתם על דבר הועידה הארצית התשיעית שתתקיים אי"ה בימי חוהמ"ס הבע"ל.

נהניתי לקרות במכתבם שמרגישים את האחריות המוטלת על הנוער החרדי להגן ולהציל את ילדי ישראל הנמצאים בסכנת כליון נפשי ח"ו הל"ת, ויהי רצון אשר ימשיכו רגש אחריות זה מעולם המחשבה ודיבור לעולם המעשה בפועל ממש.

כבר מלתי אמורה בהנוגע לתפקידי הנוער החרדי בימי הרת עולם אלה בכלל, ובפרט באה"ק ת"ו פלטין של מלך, ארץ אשר עיני הוי' אלקיך בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה, והנני מדגיש עוד הפעם לתוספת זירוז ולהעדפה:

האושר הגדול אשר ההשגחה העליונה סייעה בידכם להיות מאלו אשר תורת ה' היא חלקם, והסגולה המיוחדת אשר השם יתברך הטביע בבני הנעורים שהם בעלי מרץ ביותר, שני הדברים האלה מטילים עליכם אחריות מיוחדת להיות מן הראשונים, הן בעושים הן בהמעשים את האחרים, לנתינת הצדקה הרוחנית לעניים בדעת ועניי-מעש, ונתינה בעין יפה וביד רחבה.

ובימי חודש תשרי אלה, הוא החודש אשר בו חובת וזכות כל איש בישראל "לחדש מעשיו ולשפר מעשיו", הנה עליכם לנצל זמן מסוגל זה להתאזר ביתר שאת ויתר עז.

(א) בעבודה עם עצמו: להתעורר בהתעוררות תשובה אמיתית, קבלת עול מלכות יתברך, וקבלת עול תורה ביראת שמים וקיום המצות בשמחה.

(ב) בעבודה עם הזולת: לקרב את הצריכים קירוב ולחזק את הצריכים

חיזוק - בעבודת התשובה למוד התורה וקיום המצות, וביחוד לנהל תעמולה רחבה ובכל האופנים המתאימים, אשר כל ילד וילדה, נער ונערה בישראל צריכים להתחנך בחנוך הכשר, ברוח ישראל סבא, בלי פשרות.

"ואמר להן הקב"ה לישראל, אם שפרתם מעשיכם, אני עומד מכסא דין ויושב על כסא רחמים, והופך לכם מדת הדין למדת רחמים".

בכבוד ובברכת הצלחה ברבוי ובברכת חתימה וגמר חתימה טובה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
