To the leaders of Kfar Chabad*, whom Hashem will grant long life,

Greetings and blessings*,

I have duly received the report of your meeting, which took place at the conclusion of Shabbos* Ki Seitzei*, and of the preceding meetings. Concerning what I hoped for (see note 1), I was surprised by the rumor that, since it is a matter of building two mikva'os* — one for women and another for men — each costing twelve to thirteen thousand Israeli pounds, while the treasury currently holds only twelve thousand, you were going to postpone construction until you had gathered the full amount. For the time being, you would therefore continue to use the previous mikveh*.

You understand the difficulties that this solution raises. One will have to walk at night during the approaching winter. And even without that, one does not understand why it is necessary to wait all these months.

In my view, you must immediately begin the construction of the mikveh* for women, since you already possess the necessary amount. And the men, for the time being, will use the previous mikveh*. Indeed, they go there in the morning and not in the evening — this is self-evident. If you do this with the appropriate ardor, I have good hope that the construction will be completed before next winter.

I asked the secretary, Rav Yitzchak Menachem Mendel (see note 2), about the status of the projectors and the street lighting. He told me that, according to the plan, the electric streetlamps have already been hung, but not the projectors, whose work has not yet begun. Yet this report seems to indicate that the electric streetlamps are not yet in place either. Here too, I hope you will do this as quickly as possible, for from 15 Menachem Av*, onward, the days grow shorter.

I have received complaints from several Sefardim* who reside in the Kfar. They wish to benefit from the radiance of the farbrengens*, but they cannot do so because they do not understand Yiddish*. It would be good, at the next gathering, to see how this can be remedied. This is the moment for it, since the seventh month (see note 3) is saturated with everything (see note 4).

Common logic, including that of the animal soul*, establishes that everyone, observing his fellow, enters into competition with him. The result is that one does not come to his aid — on the contrary (see note 5). In fact, our Sages* and, in particular, Chassidus* explain that peace is the vessel containing the blessing of the Holy One, blessed be He, as it is said: "Bless us, our Father, all as one." This is self-evident.

מאשר הנני קבלת הפ"כ מישיבתם - מוצש"ק כי תצא והקודמים, ובהמשך לענין המקוה, תמהתי להשמועה אשר כיון שיש בתכנית לבנות שתי מקואות (לנשים ובנפרד לאנשים) וכל אחת תעלה 13 - 12 אלף ל"י, ול"ע ישנם בקופה לערך י"ב אלף מחכים בהתחלת הבני' עד שיתאסף כל הסכום, ולע"ע משתמשים בהמקוה הקודמת. ומובן הקישוים שבזה בהליכה בלילה בימות החורף הממשמשים ובאים וכו', וגם לולא זאת ג"כ אין מובן מה שמחכים זה כו"כ חדשים כולי האי ואולי, ולדעתי תומ"י יתחילו בבנין המקוה לנשים שעל זה כבר ישנו כל הסכום, והאנשים ישתמשו לע"ע במקוה הקודמת, והרי האנשים משתמשים במקוה בבקר ולא בלילה וק"ל, ותקותי שאם יעשו בזה במרץ הדרוש יוגמר הבנין עוד לפני החורף הבע"ל.

שאלתי את המזכיר הרימ"מ שי' מהנעשה אודות הפראזשעקטאר והתאורה ברחוב, ואמר כי לפי התכנית מנורות החשמל בטח כבר תלויות הן, משא"כ הפראזשעקטאר שעדיין לא הותחל, וכנראה מהפ"כ הנ"ל גם אורות החשמל אינן במקומן עדיין. ותקותי שגם בזה ימהרו ככל האפשרי, כיון שמט"ו מנחם אב הימים מתקצרים וכו'...

קבלתי תלונות מכמה מהספרדים הדרים בכפר... שרוצים ליהנות מזיו התועדות ואין עולה בידם כיון שאינם מבינים אידיש. ומהנכון שבאסיפה הכי קרובה ידונו איך לתקן הענינים, וה"ז דבר בעתו כיון שחדש השביעי הוא המושבע בכל.

... גם בשכל אנושי ואפילו בשכל דנה"ב מובן, אשר כשכל אחד מביט על חבירו שהוא מתחרה (קאקורירט) בו, משתלשל מזה לא רק העדר סיוע של אחד לחבירו אלא הפכו, ובפרט ע"פ המבואר בדרז"ל ובתורת החסידות ביחוד, אשר השלום דוקא כלי מחזיק ברכתו של הקב"ה, וברכנו אבינו כולנו כאחד, וק"ל...
