Greetings and blessings*,

I am responding to your letter from the end of Elul*, in which you raise the proposal to set aside time each day for meditation, before and during prayer.

It is clear that this proposal is wise, that such conduct brings much good, in addition to the improvement that one can obviously observe in everything concerning a Jew. One can deduce this from various texts of Chassidus*, particularly from Likkutei Torah*, Parshas* Balak, in the Chassidic discourse entitled "Lo Hibit*" — comparing prayer to the spine that gives stature to the body. You should consult that text.

May Hashem grant that you influence your friends in this direction. You will observe the effect of your prayer. Then, from the synagogue, you will go to the study hall and learn Torah*. Indeed, Abba Binyamin* prayed that "my prayer should be near my bed." For the study of Torah* following fervent prayer is much more elevated.

With my blessing* that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year, that you study the Torah* with fear of Hashem,
