Igrot Kodesh · Letter 473 — Collection of Previous Rebbe's Manuscripts and Discourse Index Preparation

To the distinguished Chassid, learned and fearing Hashem,

Rav Y.[1],

I send you my greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your two letters and the copy of the Rebbe's[2] letter concerning the Holy Tongue[3], his letter of 29 Tammuz, of 4 and 6 Menachem Av 5677[4], the account of his remarks on Rosh Chodesh Nissan whose year is not indicated, and of 18 Shevat 5679[5].

I express my profound gratitude to you for all of this. I thank you for what you have transmitted to me and ask you to continue sending me copies of all these treasures. It goes without saying that all the expenses that result from this, for example the cost of the copyist, will be my responsibility, according to what you tell me.

I thank you most particularly for having transmitted the text of the letter of 29 Tammuz, which was in all likelihood addressed to my father. Indeed, my mother was unable to bring her manuscripts and books with her when she left.

I am preparing for printing an index of the chassidic discourses of the Rebbe[2]. Each time he did not deliver a new discourse but merely repeated a text he had already delivered before, I obviously do not possess the manuscript and it must therefore be sought in the notes of the Chassidim* and the yeshiva students. Are there any discourses that you have heard or of which you have knowledge that do not appear in the proofs[6] enclosed?

I saw the letter you sent to my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita, but, in my humble opinion, I did not find the essential point therein, namely the names of those in the Holy Land who decided to act to advance the situation of Chassidut* there.

Indeed, many decisions have been made, committees have been elected, but difficulties have arisen whose nature is far better known to you than to me, and as a result none of this has yet been followed through. It is no doubt unnecessary to say more, since you are on the spot.

Enclosed you will find the fascicle published on the occasion of 2 Nissan. I thank you for confirming receipt of it.

בתודה רבה הנני לאשר בזה קבלת שני מכתביו בצירוף העתק סיום מכ' כ"ק אדנ"ע ע"ד לה"ק העתק מכ' הנ"ל מימי כ"ט תמוז ד' מנ"א ו' מנ"א משנת עזר"ת ור"ד מר"ח ניסן (בלי הוראת שנה) וי"ח שבט עטר"ת ת"ח על העבר ובקשה רבה על העתיד להמשיך בכגון דא בהעתק הני מילי מעלייתא. ופשיטא אשר כל ההוצאות הכרוכות בזה (שכירות מעתיק וכיו"ב) עלי לסלקם כפי הוראתו.

תודה פרטית מקול"ע בעד העתק המכ' מיום כ"ט תמוז הנ"ל שכנראה הוא הי' כתוב לאאמו"ר נ"ע, ובפרט אשר לא עלתה בידי אמי מורתי שליט"א להביא אתה לכאן מאומה מכתי"ק וספרי אאמו"ר נ"ע.

מכין אני עתה לדפוס מפתח מאמרי כ"ק אדנ"ע. והנה באותן הפעמים שלא הי' מאמר חדש כ"א חזרת אותו שכבר נאמר פ"א כמובן אין כתב המאמר בגכתי"ק ומחפשו אני בביכלעך והנחות אנ"ש והתמימים, ואולי ישנם מאמרים ששמע או יודע אודותם ואינם בקארעקטן המוסג"פ?

את מכתבו לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א ראיתי אבל לא מצאתי בו מה שלפענ"ד הוא העיקר, היינו שמות האנשים באה"ק ת"ו שהם יוציאו מן הכח אל הפועל מה שיחליטו לעשות בשינוי מצב החסידות שם, כי כמה וכמה החלטות נתקבלו נבחרו ועדים וכו' ומפני מניעות שעל אתר אשר טבען ידוע לו בטח עוד בעומק יותר מאשר לי לא באו לפועל ע"ע, והאריכות לדכוותיה הנמצא שם בודאי אך למותר.
