Greetings and blessings*,

You tell me that you remain in doubt. Indeed, by nature, you accomplish everything with great enthusiasm. Yet it seems to you that my letter was asking you to calm down (see note 1). In fact, everything is going well (see note 2), thank Hashem, and one should therefore not seek grandiose and gigantic accomplishments.

You have not interpreted my words accurately. For, in my view, you can indeed seek grandiose and gigantic accomplishments. I am also of the opinion that your communal and personal achievements can still be improved and developed, as is the case, moreover, for everything concerning human endeavors, and all the more so in matters of education. Moreover, in my opinion, enthusiasm is even beneficial in this matter.

On the other hand, I do not consider that this enthusiasm consists in looking neither right nor left, in acting with closed eyes. It is possible and even necessary that this enthusiasm lead to redoubled ardor. Nevertheless, actions must, despite this, be carried out in consultation with at least a few other people, and not with only one other opinion or even alone.

It is said that "salvation is obtained through many counselors" and this applies equally to the domain of holiness, in which enthusiasm is, to be sure, necessary, but it is clear that this feeling in no way excludes the opinions of others.

As I have written several times (see note 3), Rav Achi* himself, who combined knowledge of the Torah* and greatness, consulted all the butchers of his locale (see note 4). And how much more so is this the case... (see note 5).

May Hashem grant that you interpret these words in the sense that I give them. I am convinced that such conduct is for your benefit and that of this institution, materially and spiritually.

On the occasion of the approaching new year, for us and for all of Yisroel*, for good and for blessing, I express my blessing to you and to all of yours, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually.

With my blessing* for giving good news of all this,

Notes:
