To the attention of Dr. Menachem Harari,

Greetings and blessings*,

I have duly received your letter of 13 Tammuz*, as well as the manuscripts you sent me through Rav* Pinchas Althuis.

You surely know that these manuscripts are not by your father. They are discourses that he transcribed, which were delivered on various occasions. It is therefore not advisable to print them as they are, although the discourses of that period are part of the program we have set for ourselves and we hope to finally publish, at the appropriate time, for the merit of all, when time and means permit.

Until that publication, these discourses will serve us to clarify certain points in other texts that are being published, for in accordance with the well-known expression of our Sages*, "the words of Torah* are poor in one place and rich in another" (see note 1). The merit of all therefore depends on you from this moment (see note 2).

I would like to know if you have memories of stories from your father relating to the visits he made to our holy masters. Perhaps these have content that can be of interest to everyone.

I thank you once again for your gift.

הנני בזה לאשר קבלת מכתבו מי"ג תמוז, וכן הכתבי-יד שנשלחו על ידי ר' פנחס שי' אלטהויז.

בטח ידוע לכ' כי כתבי-יד אלה לא של אביו ז"ל הם, אלא מאמרים שהעתיק ושנאמרו בזמנים שונים, ולכן לא נכון להדפיסם כמו שהם, אף שמאמרים של תקופה זו נכללים בתכנית שמקוים אנו סוף כל סוף להדפיס לזכות הרבים כשיבוא תורם וכפי שירשה הזמן והאמצעים הגשמיים. אבל גם עד אז הנה הכתבים משמשים להבהיר ענינים דמאמרים אחרים ההולכים ונדפסים, וכמאמר חכמינו ז"ל הידוע, דברי תורה עניים במקום זה ועשירים במקום אחר. ולכן זכות הרבים תלוי בו כבר מעכשיו.

אתענין לדעת אם שמורים בזכרונו סיפורי אביו ז"ל מבקוריו אצל רבותינו הנשיאים, אשר אפשר שיש בהם גם תוכן מענין בשביל הרבים.
