To the attention of the leaders of the thirty-fourth national convention of the federation of the youth of Agudas Yisroel* in America, may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings*,

I am responding to your invitation to your national convention, which will take place, with the help of Hashem, from the 17th to the 19th of Elul*.

May Hashem grant that this convention arouse in its participants, and even in those who are not part of it, the will to assume their profound mission — that of instilling the study of Torah* and the practice of mitzvos* in daily life, particularly in the young generation, which still stands at the threshold of life.

Such action is even more necessary in our times, marked by crisis in the world in general and in the life of our people in particular — times that have produced terrible disappointments concerning secular opinions and philosophies.

As in every period of crisis, the young generation is the one that suffers the most. A portion of it has not been educated in the Torah* of truth, in faith and religion. It is therefore disoriented and gropes for its path on the road of life.

For each one who belongs to this young generation and finds himself in a ray of light — that of the Torah* and the illumination it contains (see note 1) — there is therefore a particular obligation and, simultaneously, a special merit, to provide the living example of a Jew leading a Jewish life, in his home and outside of it.

In this way, and naturally also through direct actions (see note 2), one will place all of one's surroundings — and in particular the youth — on the right path, that of Torah* and mitzvos*.

Among the signs of the period of the heel of Moshiach* (see note 3), our Sages* mention the fact that "the young will cause the elders to blush" (see note 4). Now, commenting on the admonitions of Parshas* Bechukosai*, as well as those of the Parshah* of this week (see note 5) and all the reproaches of the Torah* in general, the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, says: "These admonitions appear to be curses, but in reality they are blessings."

May Hashem grant that the Jewish children and youth in America not accept all the elements that are incompatible with a whole and complete Torah*, even if the elders of the previous generation have ceased to fight in this domain (see note 6).

Moreover, they will fight in this matter and even take the initiative in the battle. In a loud voice, they will announce and proclaim that our Torah* is a Torah* of truth, that truth cannot suffer compromise, that it is eternal. At all times, in all countries, the Torah* governs the life of every Jewish man and woman in daily life.

The Creator of the world, Who directs it, has given us the assurance that with proper determination and necessary ardor, victory will finally be won in this battle. May Hashem grant that this be so, without obstacle and without veil, as quickly as possible.

Indeed, in this decisive period, the fate of many Jews depends on every moment — on the discourse of those who are faithful to our Torah*, the Torah* of life, and its mitzvos*, and on whether they are swept away by the current of our enemies, who begin by advocating compromise and end by totally calling into question the Tradition of Yisroel*.

I send you my blessing to accomplish concrete actions that will elevate the lot of the Tradition of Yisroel* by proclaiming the supremacy of Torah* and mitzvos* in ever-wider circles.

With my blessing* that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

שלום וברכה!

במענה על הזמנתם להשתתף בועידתם השנתית אשר תתקיים אי"ה בימי י"ז - י"ט אלול.

יה"ר אשר הועידה תעורר את המשתתפים בה, ומחוצה לה למלא תפקידם הנפשי הוא - החדרת לימוד התורה וקיום מצוותי' בחיי היום-יומיים ובפרט בתוככי הדור הצעיר, העומד עודנו על מפתן החיים.

וגדל פי כמה הכרח פעולה האמורה בתקופתינו אשר תקופת משבר היא משבר בעולם בכלל ובחיי עמנו בפרט, תקופה שהביאה לאכזבות מוחלטות בדיעות ובהשקפות חול וחוץ. וכמו בכל תקופת משבר, הדור הצעיר הוא אשר נזדעזע ביותר, וחלקו אשר לא לתורת אמת ולאמונה ודת נתחנך, עומד נבוך ומחפש ומגשש לדרך בחיים.

וחובה מיוחדת, וביחד עם זה זכות מיוחדת, של כל אחד מהדור הצעיר, העומד בקרן אורה - אור תורה ומאור שבה - להיות דוגמא חי' של יהודי החי חיים יהודיים בביתו וגם מחוצה לו.

ולהעמיד - על ידי זה, וכמובן גם על ידי פעולות באופן ישר - את כל הסביבה ואת הצעירים ביחוד על הדרך הנכונה היא דרך התורה והמצוה.

אמרו חכמינו ז"ל בסימני התקופה דעקבתא דמשיחא: נערים פני זקנים ילבינו כו' וידועים דברי רבנו הזקן (בעל התניא והשו"ע) בהנוגע להתוכחות דפרשת בחוקותי - וכמו"כ דפרשת שבוע זה והתוכחות שבתורה בכלל: אף שלפי הנראה דברי התוכחות אלו הם קללות, אבל לפי האמת אינם רק ברכות (לקוטי תורה בחוקותי מ"ח א).

ויה"ר אשר הנערים וצעירי בני ישראל באמריקה לא ישלימו אפי' עם אותם הענינים הבלתי מתאימים לתורה שלימה התמימה - אשר הזקנים הדור שלפניהם פסק להלחם בהם.

אלא גם בענינים אלו ילחמו ובמלחמת תנופה, ובקול גדול יודיעו ויכריזו אשר תורתינו תורת אמת היא, ואמת אין בה מקום לפשרות, נצחית ובכל התקופות ובכל הארצות היא השולטת בחיי כל אחד ואחת מבני ישראל, בחיים היום-יומיים.

והובטחנו מבורא עולם ומנהיגו, אשר בתוקף המתאים ובמרץ הדרוש, הנה סוף סוף מנצחים במלחמה זו, ויה"ר אשר יהי' זה מבלי העלמות והסתרים, ובהקדם.

כי כל רגע ורגע בתקופתינו הרת עולם זו, גורל כמה וכמה נפשות מבני ישראל תלוי בו: אם יאמרו הנאמנים לתורתנו תורת חיים ומצוותי', או יסחפו ח"ו בזרם של שונאינו מנדינו המתחילים בפשרות ומסיימים בשלילה גמורה של מסורת ישראל סבא.

בברכה לפעולות ממשיות בהרמת קרן ישראל סבא ע"י החדרת שלטון התורה והמצוה בחוגים ההולכים ומתרחבים, ובברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה.
