Greetings and blessings*,

I am responding to your letter of the 14th of the month of Menachem Av, which reached me with some delay.

During the past days and weeks, your abilities have been affirmed in the domain of pedagogy and education. You can therefore evaluate what your future success will be and make the appropriate decision.

You tell me how you have been affected by your surroundings. I have already given my opinion on this matter. One should pay no attention to it and, to achieve this, the best means is to concentrate on a good thought.

You will do this more easily if you learn by heart and engrave in your memory what the Tanya* says at the beginning of chapter 41: "Behold, Hashem stands before him..." You should study this text.

I am surprised that you say nothing in your letter about the verification of your tefillin* and the other points I mentioned in my previous letter.

With my blessing* to give good news of all this and that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

במענה על מכתבו מי"ד חדש מנ"א, שהתארך קצת בהילוכו עד שהגיע לידי.

במשך הימים ושבועות שעברו בטח נתבררו כשרונותיו בהנוגע להדרכה וחינוך, ובהתאם לזה יכול לשער הצלחתו בעתיד ולהחליט כראוי.

ובמ"ש אודות מה שנתרשם מהענינים בסביבתו וכו', הרי כבר כתבתי חוות דעתי בזה, שהיסח הדעת מהתרשמות זו ע"י תקיעת מחשבתו במחשבה טובה היא העצה והסגולה בכגון דא, ותקל עליו עבודה זו באם יהי' שגור אצלו בעל פה וחקוק בזכרונו מה שכתוב בתניא ריש פרק מ"א והנה ה' נצב עליו כו' עיין שם.

לפלא שאינו מזכיר במכתבו אודות בדיקת התפילין שלו ושאר הענינים אודותם כתבתי במכתבי מאז.
