To the young man Yisroel (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I read with pleasure your letter informing me of your activities in the Gan Yisroel* vacation camp. May Hashem grant that these activities and their results inspire in you the appropriate reflection, which is as follows.

Through the effort you have exerted until now, Hashem has granted you the merit of convincing your students, of bringing them closer to the Torah* and its Mitzvos*. How much more so will this be the case if you increase this effort, as has been said. Then the success will be considerable, quantitatively and qualitatively.

Moreover, you know what is explained elsewhere about the importance of a positive change obtained from a young boy and a child. Sometimes, this change can alter his conduct for weeks, months, and years to come. The effort one must invest in this is therefore perfectly justified, provided it has a concrete effect.

Nevertheless, it is necessary to act in a friendly manner, through peaceful ways. And such indeed is our Torah, of which it is stated: "Her ways are ways of pleasantness."

Conversely, a positive development brought about by the counselors also has a specific value, for it is exercised upon the students in a different manner (see note 2). An effort is never in vain, and nothing withstands the will.

Although you say nothing about it, I hope that you yourself are studying Torah. This is in addition to the three well-known daily studies of Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*. You will set a fixed time for studying the revealed dimension of Torah and Chassidus*. And Hashem will grant you success.

As you request, I will mention the names of your parents near the holy resting place (see note 3), in accordance with what you write.

With my blessing that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year, you yourself and all your friends, the counselors, as well as the students,

בנועם קראתי מכתבו מספר מפעולותיו במחנה גן ישראל, ויהי רצון אשר הפעולות והתוצאות יעוררו אותו להתבוננות מתאימה ותוכנה: ומה בהשתדלותו עד עתה הצליחו השי"ת לפעול במושפעיו קירוב יותר לתורה ומצותי', עאכו"כ באם יוסיף בהשתדלותו באופן המתאים בכל האמור שאז תהי' ההצלחה ביותר וביותר הן בכמות והן באיכות, ובפרט על פי הידוע ומבואר במקום אחר אשר שינוי לטוב הבא בנער וילד, לפעמים משפיע על אופן התנהגותו בשבועות חדשים ושנים לאחרי זה, שלכן מובן שכדאית השתדלות ויגיעה, ובלבד להביא השינוי בפועל, אלא שמובן שצ"ל בדרכי נועם ובנתיבות שלום, שזהו ענין תורתנו וכמה שנאמר דרכי' דרכי נועם וגו' - ולאידך גיסא ישנה מעלה נוספת בשינוי לטוב הנפעל בהמדריכים כיון שאז משפיעים באופן אחר על המושפעים שלהם, וחזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.

תקותי אף שאין מזכיר על דבר זה שיש לו שיעורים לעצמו, נוסף על שלשת השיעורים הידועים בחומש תהלים ותניא, וקביעות עתים בלימוד הן בנגלה והן בחסידות, והשי"ת יצליחו.

כבקשתו יזכירו את הוריו שיחיו על הציון הק' - מתאים לכתבו.

בברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לו לכל חבריו המדריכים וכן להמושפעים שיחיו.
