Blessings and greetings,

I have received your letter of 22 Menachem Av. It is no doubt unnecessary to remind you that what you write to me can give rise to demands from others. Indeed, the expenses of the institutions will be considerably increased thereby. I will therefore not make a decision on this matter. I have written to Rav B. E. G. (see note 1) in Paris. I hope that you yourself will now write to him, and he will inform you.

I am surprised that you do not speak of the activity of Chabad* women and girls in your city. This (see note 2) has always been very important, but in our days it is even more so, particularly among the Sephardim*, for whom the education of women and girls is an entirely new development, while ideas and concepts that run counter to Yiddishkeit* reach them especially through schools and newspapers.

In this way, they (see note 3) receive, increasingly, negative and harmful information, while their knowledge of Yiddishkeit has until now remained very weak. To date, very little has been done in this domain. It is of course unnecessary to recall that upon the proper education given to girls depends the positive conduct of the home thereafter, as well as the education of the children.

Obviously, you may convey what has just been said to all the Chassidim* you encounter. The more women you draw into this effort, the better. Indeed, each one, if she truly wishes, can be useful, according to her abilities and her qualities.

May Hashem grant you the success of giving good news on this subject.

שימת לבה לכך שהענין אודותו כותבת יכול להביא לדרישות דומות

מאחרים ,היינו שזה יגדיל בהרבה את ההוצאות של המוסדות .עם זאת,

אין כוונתי לומר החלטה בזה ,וכתבתי על כך להרה״ג הרה״ח כו׳ הרבא״ג

שי׳ בפריז ,והתקוה שכעת תכתוב לו ,ותהי׳ לה ידיעה בזה.

מפליא אותי שאינה מזכירה אודות עבודת נשי ובנות חב״ד בעירה.

ואם בכל הזמנים הי׳ זה חשוב ביותר ,הרי עתה זה חשוב במידה הרבה

יותר גדולה .ובפרט בין הספרדים ,שאצלם חינוך הבנות והנשים הוא

דבר חדש לגמרי ,בזמן שידיעות כלליות ונגד יהדות ,כן מגיע אליהן ע״י

בתי הספר והעיתונים וכדו׳ .יוצא שאת הידיעות השליליות המזיקות הן

מקבלות עוד ועוד ,וביהדות ,למרבה הצער ,עד עתה ]המצב[ חלוש ,ומעט

מאוד נעשה בזה .והרי מיותר להדגיש שבחינוך היהודי הנכון של הבנות,

תלוי מעמד הבית העתידי וחינוך ילדיהם.

מובן מאליו ,שיכולה למסור את האמור לעיל ,לכל נשי אנ״ש עמן

נפגשת .וככל שיותר נשים תמשכנה לעבודה -כן ייטב .שכן; כל אחת

יכולה להביא תועלת בהתאם לכשרונות ולאפשרויות שלה ,אם רק יהי׳

הרצון האמיתי בזה .והשי״ת יצליחה לבשר טובות בזה.
