Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 18 Menachem Av, in which you consider various possibilities regarding your studies for the coming year (see note 1).

If you accept my advice, you will continue your studies, with fervor and ardor, in the place where you currently find yourself — that is, in the holy Yeshivas* Tomchei Temimim* of Brunoy (see note 2). Even if you think there is no study partner there who suits you, you will at least set a good example for the young men from Morocco (see note 3), who will see you ascend from one level to the next in the study of Torah*, with the fear of Hashem. Likewise, you will pray with fervor.

There are no words to describe the influence you will exert upon the younger men from Morocco, who will thereby also know elevation, from one level to the next. It is certain that the One Who gives the Torah will keep His promise, according to which whoever gives tzedakah*, whether material or spiritual, such as what has just been described (see note 4), will have "a mind and a heart a thousand times more refined" (see note 5).

במענה על מכתבו מי"ח מנ"א, בו כותב הסברות אודות לימודו בשנה הבע"ל.

ואם לדעתי ישמע, ילמוד בהתמדה ושקידה במקומו עתה בהישיבה הק' תומכי תמימים בברונא, ואם אפילו לדעתו אין שם חבר מתאים בשבילו, עליו לשמש דוגמא חי' להאברכים דמרוקה בעלייתו בלימוד תורתנו הק' מדרגא לדרגא, לימוד תורה ביראת שמים וביחד עם עבודת התפלה, וגודל הענין שיפעול באברכי מרוקה הקטנים ממנו שגם הם יעלו מדרגא לדרגא אין די ערך, ומובטח נותן התורה לקיים הבטחתו - לכל הנותן צדקה בגשמיות, או ברוחניות כנ"ל - אשר מוחו ולבו נעשים זכים אלף פעמים ככה.
