Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 15 Menachem Av, in which you write that you can no longer continue to maintain, in your conduct, the obligations of a student of the yeshivah*, as you did when you were a student at Yeshivas* Tomchei Temimim* of Lod. Consequently, you once again formulate an explanation justifying why you need to continue your studies at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in the United States.

I do not understand what will be resolved in this way. By being here, you will have free will, exactly as you have it in the Holy Land, where it enables you to put into practice the words of the verse: "And you shall choose life."

Nevertheless, the Rav and Chassid*, the mashpia* (see note 1) also writes to me about this. Therefore, if throughout the coming year you adopt the conduct befitting a student of Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim of Lod, without advancing pretexts and excuses in this matter (see note 2), I agree that you come here for Rosh Hashanah* 5718 (see note 3) in order to study as a student of the yeshivah should.

I am sending this letter through his intermediary (see note 4), so that you may speak clearly together about all of this.

May Hashem grant that you have the merit of following the way and the path that lead toward elevation.

במענה על מכתבו מט"ו מנ"א, בו כותב שאינו יכול להמשיך להתנהג כפי חובותיו של תמים בהיותו בתומכי תמימים דלוד, ולכן מחדש עוד הפעם הסבר שיסע ללמוד בתו"ת דארצוה"ב; אף שאינו מובן מה יתוקן בזה, כיון שגם כאן תהי' הבחירה בידו כמו שהבחירה בידו בהיותו באה"ק ת"ו לקיים מ"ש ובחרת בחיים; אבל כיון שגם הרה"ח המשפיע כותב ג"כ בענין זה, הרי אם במשך שנה הבאה יתנהג כראוי למים בישיבת תו"ת דלוד ומבלי כל אמתלאות ותירוצים בזה הנני מסכים שלראש השנה תשי"ח יסע לכאן ע"מ ללמוד כראוי לתמים; ושולח הנני המכתב ע"י הנ"ל בכדי שידברו ביניהם דברים ברורים בהאמור, ויה"ר אשר זכות יעמוד לו ללכת במסילה ובדרך העולה מעלה מעלה.
