and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter, whose delivery was delayed. You tell me that, given the current situation (see note 2), you are wondering whether it would be advisable to sell the yeshivah* building. You seek my counsel.

This idea does not appeal to me at all. For it is precisely in the current situation that a great effort is necessary in the domain of education based on sacred values. And it is clear that the sale of the yeshivah building would weaken not only the members of the community and the parents of students, but also the administration of this yeshivah. One can verify that this would indeed be the case.

Moreover, various texts explain that the actions of man here below have an impact above. By dismissing the possibility of reducing and diminishing the size of this school, you will therefore strengthen those who defend it above, as the holy Zohar* states in Parshas* Tetzaveh, page 184b, which you should consult. An allusion to this is also found in the revealed dimension of Torah*, for it is stated: "Do not open your mouth..." (see note 3) — even solely through words, and how much more so through action.

I am enclosing a pamphlet that has recently appeared. Surely you will make its content available to the greatest number. The merit of all depends upon you.

במענה למכתבו שנתארך דרך הילוכו, בו כותב אשר לאור המצב כיום נתעוררה השאלה אם כדאי למכור עכשיו בנין הישיבה, ושואל דעתי בזה.

וסברא זו לא נראית לי כלל וכלל, כי דוקא לאור המצב העכשוי מוכרח להשתדל ביותר בשטח חינוך הכשר שעל טהרת הקדש, ומובן שעצם ענין מכירת בנין מחליש לא רק את הבע"ב והורי הילדים אלא אפילו גם הנהלת הישיבה, וכנראה במוחש, ובפרט עפ"י המבואר בכ"מ שמעשה האדם עושה רושם גם למעלה ושלילת הסברא דצמצום וקצוץ בממדי מוסד חינוך מוסיפה כח למלמדי סנגוריא על מוסד זה למעלה, והוא ע"ד דברי הזהר הק' פרשת תצוה קפ"ד ע"ב עיי"ש, ומרומז גם במרז"ל בנגלה שבתורה, אל תפתח פה כו' אפילו בדבור, עאכו"כ בענין של מעשה.

מוסג"פ הקונטרס שהו"ל לא כבר, ובטח יזכה בתוכנו גם את הרבים, וזכות הרבים תלוי בו.
