To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Saadya,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 26 Tammuz. I am surprised that the number of students during the vacation period is not sufficiently large, especially since one must make very broad use of this time during which they are freed from secular studies. Then, nothing disturbs the sacred studies — this is self-evident.

You tell me that the boarding facility (the place where students eat, drink, and sleep) is insufficient. It is therefore clear that one must increase the number of day students (who eat and sleep at home). Moreover, you must consider the expansion of the facilities with the great Rav and Chassid, Rav B. E. G. (Rav Binyamin Elyahu Gorodetski). It is now possible to implement the decision that will be made on this subject. In this way, there will be room for many additional students.

You say that this will be more burdensome. To a portion of this endeavor, however, will apply the principle that "a candle lit for one person illuminates a hundred." And for the remaining portion, you must endeavor to find monitors from among our brethren, the children of Israel of Morocco. In general, one must recruit monitors and teachers from among them.

It seems that further explanations are still necessary, even for the Chassidim*. Indeed, the necessity of advancement in the domain of holiness applies to all its aspects at once, and not only to a few of them — especially those that require no effort. It is evident that this principle applies first and foremost to a school, whose influence extends to all generations (since it forms students who will in turn become parents). Moreover, Chassidus* states that the power of Hashem is revealed in this world precisely through children and grandchildren (for birth is a manifestation of the infinite character of Hashem in the material world).

You mention the engagement and the date of the wedding (presumably of one of your children). You surely know my view on this subject, which is mentioned in several books and applies particularly to our orphaned generation: the shorter the time between engagement and wedding, the better.

May Hashem grant that you and your wife derive much Chassidic nachas* from all your children and achieve success in your sacred mission.

With my blessing of Mazel Tov*, on the occasion of the engagement and the wedding, which will be celebrated at a good and fruitful time.
