To the young man Shalom,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 27 Tammuz, by which you inform me that you have been chosen (see the preceding letter) to join the emissaries (sent to Eretz Yisroel* following the Kfar Chabad* attack; see letter 4546), may Hashem grant them long life — representatives of the Chassidim* and my delegates, who are traveling for several weeks to the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt.

It is unnecessary to point out to you the great merit and, simultaneously, the great responsibility that this selection confers upon you. Each of these emissaries must set an example of what a delegate of the Chassidim is, in every aspect of his conduct.

Nevertheless, the result is proportional to the effort (literally, "the trace on the camel's back depends on the weight of the burden"), and without a doubt, you have been granted from the outset the necessary strength to meet these demands. Everything therefore depends solely on your will.

May Hashem grant that you desire it and that you achieve success, to the full extent of what is necessary.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ז תמוז, בו מודיע שנבחר להצטרף להשלוחים שליט"א ב"כ אנ"ש ובאי כח בעלייתם לאה"ק ת"ו למשך איזה שבועות.

ובודאי למותר לעוררו על גודל הזכות וביחד עם זה גודל האחריות שהוטלה עליו ע"י בחירה זו, שצריך כ"א מהשלוחים לשמש דוגמא חי' - בהנהגתו ובכל עניניו - לשליח אנ"ש שי', אבל לפום גמלא שיחנא, ובודאי ניתנים מראש הכחות למלאות דרישות אלו ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצונו, ויה"ר שירצה ויצליח ככל הדרוש.
