To the Rabbanim*, distinguished Chassidim* who devote themselves to communal needs, Rav Chaim Shalom HaLevi and Rav Yaakov,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Chabad Beis Medrash* in Mazkeret Moshe. In it, you briefly describe the activities and development of this shul* and house of study.

May Hashem grant that for many more years, the Creator of the world, Who directs it, accord you the merit of reporting to me the expansion of the small Sanctuary you have founded. This expansion will be both quantitative and qualitative. It will be manifested in the three domains: "A candle is a mitzvah* and the Torah* is light" — as well as the luminaire of the Torah (Chassidus*), its practices, and its customs.

It is quite clear that one can place trust in the Giver of the Torah. He will fulfill His promise, according to which those who devote themselves to the community, or in the words of the verse, "Those who confer merit upon the community will be like stars for eternity" (Daniel 12:3). Naturally, they themselves will stand first and be rewarded beforehand.

You surely made use of the propitious days of the liberation (of the Frierdiker Rebbe* from Soviet imprisonment), the 12th and 13th of Tammuz, in the proper manner. You will let me know, with appropriate detail.

Likewise, it is no doubt superfluous to point out to you that you should take advantage of the visit of the emissaries (sent to Eretz Yisroel* following the Kfar Chabad* attack; see letter 4546), may Hashem grant them long life. They come from here and will spend several weeks in the Holy Land, where they will serve as representatives of the Chassidim and my delegates, to organize a farbrengen* also in your shul and house of study. And may, through you and through them, the Name of Hashem be sanctified.

I send you my blessing to report good news of all this and to redouble your ardor in the spreading of the wellsprings* (of Chassidus) to the outside. This will hasten the coming of our righteous Moshiach*, in accordance with his well-known promise, transmitted to us by the Baal Shem Tov*. And may these days (the Three Weeks*, from the 17th of Tammuz to the 9th of Av, commemorating the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash*) be transformed into joy and gladness.

- ויהי רצון אשר עוד רבות בשנים יזכם בורא עולם ומנהיגו לבשר מהגדלת מקדש מעט שזכו בבנינו, הגדלה הן בכמות והן באיכות ובכל שלשת הסוגים נר מצוה תורה אור ומאור שבתורה, הדרכותי' ומנהגי', וברור הדבר שנאמן נותן התורה לקיים הבטחתו אשר מזכי הרבים הם בלשון הכתוב ומצדיקי הרבים ככוכבים לעולם ועד, והעומדים בראש נוטלים חלק בראש כמובן ופשוט.

בודאי ניצלו ימי הסגולה והגאולה י"ב וי"ג תמוז באופן המתאים ויודיעו גם עד"ז בפרטיות הדרושה.

כן בטח למותר לעוררם אשר ינצלו ביקור השלוחים שליט"א שעלו מכאן למשך איזה שבועות לאה"ק ת"ו בתור ב"כ אנ"ש ובאי כחי שיתועדו גם בבית הכנסת ובבית מדרש שלהם, ומניהו ומנייהו יתקלס שם עילאה.

בברכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור ותוספת האומץ בהפצת המעינות חוצה ימהר ביאת משיח צדקנו כהבטחתו הידועה שנמסרה לנו ע"י הבעש"ט ויהפכו ימים אלו לששון ולשמחה.
