Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 21 Tammuz, in which you inform me that you consulted Rav N. N. (Rav Nissan Nemanov, dean of the Yeshivah in Brunoy, near Paris), your spiritual guide, as well as the great Rav and Chassid*, Rav B. E. Gorodetski (Rav Binyamin Elyahu Gorodetski, director of the refugee aid bureau in Paris). Both gave you their consent to travel to Morocco in order to undertake an educational mission there, based on traditional values, among the local Jews.

If so, and if you accept this wholeheartedly, it is good and wise. Nevertheless, you must regard yourself as you truly are — a student of the holy Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*, who is "a candle to illuminate" one's surroundings.

In every place where you find yourself, you must therefore illuminate Jewish souls with a divine radiance, leading them to study the Torah*, with fear of Hashem, and to fulfill the mitzvos* in the best possible manner. It is in this way that you will achieve success in this matter.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"א תמוז, בו כותב אשר התדבר עם הרה"ח וכו' הרנ"ן שי' המשפיע שלו וגם עם הרה"ג הרה"ח מוהרב"א שי' גאראדעצקי, ושניהם הסכימו שיסע למרוקה על מנת לעשות שם בחינוך על טהרת הקדש של בני ישראל.

ואם כנים הדברים ומקבל זה על עצמו בתום לבב, נכון הדבר וטוב, אלא שעוד זאת שעליו להביט על עצמו כמו שהוא באמת תלמידה של הישיבה הק' תומכי תמימים שנקראים בשם נרות להאיר, פירוש שבכל מקום בואו עליו להאיר נשמות בני ישראל באור אלקי על ידי השפעתו עליהם בלימוד התורה ביראת שמים וקיום מצותי' בהידור, ועל ידי זה יצליח בכל האמור.
