Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter from erev* Rosh Chodesh* of the third month (see note 1). I will mention your name at a propitious time near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us.

You mention forgiveness (see note 2). That is not how it should be understood. I did not take offense, Heaven forbid, and there is therefore no need to ask for forgiveness. Nevertheless, to the necessity of disseminating the wellsprings (see note 3), there also applies the teaching of our Sages, cited at the end of chapter 9 of Iggeres HaTeshuvah* of the Alter Rebbe*, according to which "one who used to study one page (see note 4) should study two (see note 5)."

In this regard, I have good hope that you will redouble your efforts to disseminate the wellsprings, that you will intensify your activity within the framework of the youth of the Chabad* association. Chassidus* explains that action, compared to wisdom, is manifold — that is to say, it is vastly multiplied.

If you desire it, you will succeed in this matter, for yourself and for what you accomplish. May Hashem grant that I receive good news of this, as soon as possible and to the greatest extent, in accordance with the needs of the moment.

You inform me of your birthday. May Hashem grant that you have a year of success in all that has been said above, and more broadly, that you see the fruit of the effort that has just been defined — of "our toil," an expression that refers to children. You will derive from them, together with your wife, much Chassidic nachas*.

With my blessing to receive the Torah* with joy and in an inward manner (see note 6), in anticipation of good news of all this, as soon as possible,

I have duly received the Chassidic discourse with the handwritten notes of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*. I thank you deeply, from the bottom of my heart.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מער"ח ירחא תליתאי, ובעת רצון אזכירו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ובמ"ש אודות מחילה. - מובן שאין זה בדרא דאונא, כי הרי אין זה ענין של קפידא ח"ו ובקשת מחילה, אלא במה שנוגע להפצת המעינות חוצה, ובמילא גם ע"ז קאי הוראת רז"ל והובא באגרת התשובה לרבנו הזקן סוף פרק ט' הי' רגיל לקרות דף אחד יקרא שני דפים וכו' ובכגון דא תקותי חזקה שיכפול השתדלותו בהפצת המעינות ובמסגרת צעירי אגו"ח בכפלים, וע"פ המבואר בדא"ח על הענין דכפלים לתושי' שזהו שלא בערך וכשירצה יצליח בזה בהנוגע לעצמו ובהנוגע לפעולות, ויהי רצון שאזכה להתבשר טובות בכל זה בהקדם ובמדה גדולה מתאים לדרישת השעה...

ולהודעתו מיום ההולדת שלו, הנה יה"ר שתהי' שנת הצלחה אצלו בכל האמור ובכלל לראות פרי טוב בעמלו האמור ובעמלנו אלו הבנים לראות מהם רוב נחת חסידותי ביחד עם זוגתו תחי'.
