To the distinguished chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Yedidya (see note 1), the shochet*,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your note, together with what was enclosed (see note 2). I am sending you a receipt in the name of the institutions bearing the name of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt — "toward which the eyes of Hashem are always directed, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year."

You and those like you (see note 3) protect this land. For whoever desires to do so will see to it that the number of students and the hours of study are increased. Through all of this, Hashem will "build the house" and "guard the city." Rabbi Abba bar Kahana was the first to explain this. Rabbi Assi and Rabbi Ami developed his commentary, explaining at the beginning of Midrash* Eichah Rabbah* that these expressions refer to those who devote themselves to study day and night.

May Hashem grant that very soon, in goodness and mercy, Hashem will arouse His spirit upon every Jew, among all the people of Israel. Then one will see with one's eyes, hear with one's ears, and perceive in one's heart that "we invoke the Name of Hashem Elokeinu*" and "He sends us His help from the Sanctuary."

Hashem will fulfill His promise and "He will answer us on the day we call upon Him," with the true and complete redemption.

נעם לי לקבל הפתקא שלו ביחד עם המצורף אליו, ומוסגר בזה קבלה ממוסדות אשר על שם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע אשר באה"ק ת"ו, ארץ אשר ה' אלקיך דורש אותה מראשית השנה עד אחרית שנה אשר הם הן - וכדוגמתם - המגינים עלי' ועל כל המחזיק בהם ומשתדל בהוספה עליהם הן במספר התלמידים והן בשעות הלימוד, שהם הגורמים וממשיכים אשר ה' יבנה בית וה' ישמר עיר וגו' וכאשר פתח ההסברה בזה רבי אבא בר כהנא וביארו הדבר ר' אסי ור' אמי, אשר הסופרים ומשנים שהם הוגים ומשנים את התורה ביום ובלילה כו' (מדרש איכה רבה בתחלתו).

ויה"ר שבקרוב ממש ובחסד וברחמים יערה רוח ממרום על כאו"א בתוך כלל ישראל ואז יראה בעיניו ובאזניו ישמע ולבבו יבין, אשר אנחנו בשם ה' אלקינו נזכיר והוא ישלח עזרתו מקדש ויקיים הבטחתו, יעננו ביום קראנו בגאולה האמיתית ושלימה.
