To the eminent Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*

and devotes himself to communal needs, of manifold

accomplishments, Rav* Nissan (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 25 Iyar* and to the one that preceded it.

I will mention your name, at an auspicious moment, at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, for you to have good health. The doctor you consulted has surely explained to you that blood pressure depends, to a large extent, on a person's state of mind. Consequently, conduct in accordance with the teaching of the Baal Shem Tov* (see note 2) regarding the verse "you shall surely help him" — the body (see note 3) — with joy and enthusiasm, enables one to obtain the reward of improved physical health in the most literal sense. Practice demonstrates that this is indeed the case.

How wonderful are the words of the Alter Rebbe* in chapter 49 of the Tanya*, page 69b, according to which "You have chosen us... refers to the body" (see note 4). These days are propitious for all of this, since they prepare for the receiving of the Torah*, when, as our Sages* emphasize, all the children of Israel were in good health and whole (see note 5).

What has just been said shows you that there is absolutely no reason to apologize for having written to me on this subject. First of all, a well-known Chassidic saying establishes that "the material welfare of my fellow is my spirituality." Moreover, the Jewish body is holy, as the Tanya* establishes in the reference previously cited.

You say nothing about the state of health of your wife, the Rebbetzin*, may Hashem* grant her long life. This surely means that all is well.

I thank you for the good news that the Mikveh* indeed meets the highest standards. No doubt you will continue to seek the most perfect practices, in this Mikveh* and in all others. In your days and in ours, may the promise be fulfilled that "Hashem* is the Mikveh* of Israel," and may we, within all of Israel, be sprinkled with pure waters, as it is said: "I will sprinkle upon you pure waters." This will be a close preparation for the true Redemption, which will come immediately afterward.

With my blessing, expressed in the terms our master, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, customarily used, to receive the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner (see note 6),

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ה אייר והקודם לו.

בעת רצון אזכירו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע לבריאות הנכונה, ובודאי ביאר לכ' ג"כ הרופא ששאל בעצתו, אשר ענין לחץ הדם תלוי במדה חשובה במצב רוח האדם, שמזה מובן שהנהגה מתאימה לדברי הבעש"ט, עזב תעזוב עמו - עם הגוף, בשמחה וטוב לבב, ה"ז מהענינים שמתן שכרם בצדם הטבת בריאות הגוף כפשוטה, וכנראה גם במוחש.

ומה נפלאו דברי רבינו הזקן בתניא פרק מ"ט (ס"ט סוף ע"ב) ובנו בחרת כו' הוא הגוף כו', ומסוגלים ימים אלו בפרט להאמור כיון שהם ימי הכנה לקבלת התורה, אשר כדרז"ל נעשו כל ישראל בריאים בגופם ושלמים (וע"פ כל הנ"ל מובן שאין להתנצל כלל על מה שכתב אלי בענין זה, כי נוסף על הפתגם החסידותי הידוע, יענעמס גשמיות איז בא מיר רוחניות, הרי גוף הישראלי קדוש הוא וכמובן גם מתניא הנ"ל)

כיון שאינו מזכיר בהנוגע לבריאות זוגתו הרבנית שתליט"א בטח הכל בסדר.

בת"ח על הבשו"ט מההידור בעניני המקוה ובטח ימשיך כת"ר בכיוון זה למהדרין מן המהדרין, במקוה האמורה וגם בשאר המקואות שהשפעתו מגיעה, ובימיו ובימינו נזכה לקיום היעוד אשר מקוה ישראל ה' ויזרוק עלינו בתכ"י מים טהורים וכמ"ש וזרקתי עליכם מים טהורים הקדמה קרובה לגאולה האמיתית הבאה תיכף לאחרי זה.

בברכה כלשון הרב הוא כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר לקבלת התורה בשמחה ובפנימיות.
