Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from the eve of Shabbos* and to the request for a blessing. You inform me of the doubts you have regarding study in pairs (see note 1).

Various texts emphasize the submission that the student must feel toward the teacher. Our Sages* base this, in particular, on the verse: "His lips are roses from which flows myrrh."

The same applies in your case. You must convey these difficulties to your teacher, to the Rosh Yeshivah* of your Yeshivah*, to the Mashpia* who teaches you Chassidus*, providing them with all the necessary explanations. But afterward, you must put into practice what they tell you. It is in this way that you will truly receive their teaching.

This is also a preparation, an introduction, and a foundation that will enable you to teach properly yourself, in the future. You will also consult the well-known talk on this subject, printed in Toras Shalom*, page 84 (see note 2).

You surely maintain the three daily studies incumbent upon everyone, instituted by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us. These concern the Chumash*, the Tehillim*, and the Tanya*, and are well known.

You inform me of your birthday and you have surely observed the practices of that day, as they are observed by the Chassidim* recently (see note 3). May Hashem* grant that you have a year of success, material and spiritual, in the study of the Torah* and in the practice of the Mitzvos*, in the best manner.

במענה על מכתבו מעש"ק והפ"נ, בו כותב ע"ד הספיקות שחלו אצלו בהנוגע לסדר לימודו בהחברותא וכו'.

כבר מבואר בכ"מ ענין הקבלת עול שמוכרח להיות מתלמיד בהנוגע להרב, ומיוסד על מרז"ל על הכתוב שפתותיו שושנים נוטפות מור עובר, וה"ה בנדון דילי' שצריך לפרט עניניו בצירוף הטעמים ונימוקים שלו לפני הר"מ והר"י ומשפיע דא"ח שלו, אבל אחר כך צריך להתנהג דוקא כהוראתם ואז מצליחים להיות מקבל כדבעי, שזהו ג"כ הכשר והכנה והקדמה להיות במשך הזמן גם משפיע כדבעי, ועיין ג"כ השיחה הידועה בנדון זה, נדפסה בתורת שלום עמוד פ"ד.

בודאי שומר שלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש מתקנת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר

זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, בחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים.

ולהודעתו מיום הולדת שלו (בודאי ינהג במנהגי יום הולדת כפי שנוהגים בזה אנ"ש בזמן האחרון), הנה יה"ר שתהי' שנת הצלחה אצלו בגשמיות וברוחניות בלימוד התורה וקיום המצות בהידור.
