Greetings and blessings,
Some time ago, you wrote to me informing me of the motivation of some of your friends, who desired to redouble their ardor and enthusiasm in the study of the revealed part of the Torah* and of Chassidus*, and in fulfilling the Mitzvos* in the best manner. I am surprised not to have heard further news from you since then.
Indeed, it is said: "Each day, they shall be in your eyes..." (see note 1). One must therefore introduce an addition each day, compared to the previous day, both in the study of the Torah* and in the practice of the Mitzvos*. No doubt you will inform me of all this at the next opportunity, with all the necessary details.
You know the teaching of our holy master, according to which a student of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* must take counsel, regarding everything that concerns him and, more particularly, regarding the influence he exerts on others, with the Mashpi'im* (see note 2) and with his Rosh Yeshivah*, from whom he receives instruction. This is no doubt what you do in a concrete manner, even if you do not mention it in your letter.
Needless to say, the students who have contributed their efforts and helped encourage others must themselves set an impeccable example, through the way they conduct themselves and through their own study.

לפלא שמעת מכתבו מכבר בו כתב אודות התעוררות לבבם של כמה מחבריו להוסיף אומץ בהתמדה ושקידה בלימוד תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות וכן להדר בקיום מצותי', אין ממנו ידיעות נוספות, והרי ידוע הציווי שבכל יום ויום יהיו בעיניך כו' להוסיף על היום שעבר הן בתורה והן במצות, ובטח ימלא בהזדמנות הכי קרובה ובפרטיות הדרושה.
וכבר ידועה הוראת נשיאנו הק' שתלמיד ישיבת תומכי תמימים צריך להתייעץ בעניניו ובפרט בנוגע לתעמולה בין התלמידים, עם המשפיעים והר"י שלו, שהוא משומעי לקחם, ובטח גם בפו"מ נוהג כן אף שלא הזכיר עד"ז במכתבו הנ"ל, ומובן ג"כ שהתלמידים שעזרו ועוררו צריכים להיות הם עצמם דוגמא חי' ולמופת באופן הנהגתם ולימודם.
