To the youth of the Chabad* association of the holy city of Jerusalem,

may Hashem* grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I have just received, with pleasure, your letter of 24 Nissan*, with what was enclosed. Be gratified, as I myself have been, by the good news of your activities aimed at promoting Jewish observance in general and spreading the wellsprings (see note 1) in particular. No doubt you will intensify this activity in accordance with the needs of the present period.

Various texts explain that the closer one draws to the moment of the true and complete redemption, the more the value and importance of each instant increases. Indeed, it is fitting to prepare for the coming of King Moshiach*. This is why every moment must be used in the best possible way. It is unnecessary to say more, so self-evident is this.

This enables one to respond to the question you ask regarding Lag BaOmer*. It is quite evident that all those who can do so must participate in the trip to Meron* (see note 2). Without making a vow, I will participate in the expenses incurred, up to a certain amount.

And those who, for justified reasons, will not be able to travel will surely organize an appropriate celebration — a Chassidic* gathering — in Jerusalem. They will coordinate their activities with those of all the other groups (see note 3) and all the members.

I await detailed good news of all of this.

It seems to me that I already wrote to you, in one of my previous letters, that it would be good to maintain contact with those whose acquaintance you made during one of the activities. In the end, the ruling of the Mishnah* will be fulfilled: "One Mitzvah* draws another" (see note 5).

בנועם קבלתי ז"ע מכתבם מכ"ד ניסן עם המצורפים בו, ותנוח דעתם כאשר הניחו את דעתי בבשורתם הטובה מפעולותיהם ביהדות בכלל ובהפצת המעיינות ביחוד, ובודאי יוסיפו בזה הלוך והוסיף, וכדרישת השעה, וע"פ המבואר ומובא בכ"מ אשר ככל שמתקרב לרגע הגאולה האמיתית והתחלתה, הרי כל רגע ורגע יקר מתגדל ערכו ונעשה יקר ויקר עוד יותר, כיון שצריך למהר להכין לביאת מר הוא מלכא משיחא, ולכן צריך לנצלו ככל האפשרי, והאריכות בדבר הפשוט למותר.

ומזה מובן ג"כ המענה על שאלתם בהנוגע לל"ג בעומר, אשר פשוט ופשיטא שהשייכים לזה צריכים לסדר נסיעה למירון, ובל"נ אשתתף במדה מסוימת בהוצאות הכרוכות בהענין, ואלו שמאיזה סיבות נכונות לא יוכלו לנסוע, בודאי יארגנו דבר המתאים והתועדות בירושת"ו, ויתאימו הפעולות עם כל הסניפים והחברים ותהי' בהצלחה. ואחכה לבשו"ט ומפורטות בכל האמור.
