Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 6 Iyar*, in which you tell me about this young boy, aged thirteen and a half, who faces difficulties in being able to adopt a conduct imbued with the fear of Hashem* (see note 1).

In such a case, the best course is to put into practice the words of the Mishnah*: "Exile yourself to a place of Torah*" (see note 2). In this way, there will be no daily friction between the parties (see note 3). It will occur only once, to obtain the agreement that he go to a place of Torah*.

One can verify in practice the beneficial nature of such an approach in various areas, particularly in the United States, where it is common practice. Young people like to leave their parents' home for a period of time.

You will surely find people who have influence over the parents. They will obtain their agreement for all of this.

May Hashem* grant him success (see note 4), and may his efforts be crowned with success — that he fear Hashem*, be a Chassid*, and a Torah* scholar.

במענה על מכתבו מששי באייר, בו כותב אודות הנער בן י"ג שנה וחצי אשר יש לו הפרעות להנהגתו ביראת שמים וכו'.

הנה בכגון דא היותר טוב לקיים הוראת המשנה, הוי גולה למקום תורה שאז אין החיכוכים בין הצדדים יום יום, אלא רק פעם אחת בכדי שיסכימו לנסיעתו למקום תורה, וכנראה במוחש התועלת שבהנ"ל ובכמה פרטים ובפרט בארצוה"ב שכבר רגיל הוא ומוצא חן בעיני הנוער לנסוע מבית הוריהם למשך זמן, ובודאי יש למצוא אנשים שיש להם השפעה על ההורים בכדי שסו"ס יסכימו להאמור, והשי"ת יצליח אותו לראות פרי טוב בעמלו ולעשותו ירא שמים חסיד ולמדן.
