Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter from before the festival of Pesach*, in which you tell me that you commit to studying with ardor and enthusiasm, to observing the study schedule of the Yeshivah* when you will be here — although you contradict yourself, since at the beginning of your letter, you acknowledge that for the time being, you do not do so, especially recently.
I am very much afraid that if you leave there, the evil inclination* will accompany you and continue to tempt you thereafter. If, while in the "land upon which the eyes of Hashem* are always directed, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year," you do not fight against it in the proper manner, what will you do in other places?
You know the ruling of the Rambam*, in Chapter 5 of his Laws of Kings, that it is forbidden to leave Eretz Yisrael* to go to another country. If one is permitted to do so in order to study the Torah*, the Torah* itself must be able to testify that this is indeed a genuine study!
Nevertheless, if you have truly and sincerely made the firm resolution to put into practice what has been said, you may indeed proceed with your efforts in this direction.
May Hashem* guide you on the path that is good for you, both materially and spiritually.

במענה על מכתבו מפני חג הפסח בו כותב שמקבל עליו ללמוד בהתמדה ובשקידה ולשמור סדרי הישיבה כאן (אף שלכאורה סותר את עצמו לתחלת מכתבו שמודה שאינו שומר סדרי לימוד הישיבה ובפרט בזמן האחרון כו' והרי חוששני שגם כשיסע משם יסע גם היצר הרע ובטח ימשיך בהסתות שלו גם אחרי זה, ואם בארץ אשר עיני ה' אלקיך בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה, אינו משתדל נגדו כדבעי, הנה מה יהי' בחו"ל? וכבר נודע פסק הרמב"ם (הל' מלכים פ"ה) שאסור לצאת לחו"ל, וכשמתירים מפני תלמוד תורה, הרי צ"ל התלמוד באופן שהתורה אומרת שזהו ת"ת, בכל זה) אם באמת ובתמים והחלטה תקיפה ביותר יקיים את האמור, יכול להתחיל ההשתדלות בזה, והשי"ת ינחהו באופן הטוב לפניו בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
