To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and carries out a sacred mission, Rav* Menachem Yisrael (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

Since your letter that was accompanied by the photograph of the building (see note 2), I have had no news from you, and I am surprised. You have surely seen my letter (see note 3), addressed some time ago to Rav* Ch. Sh. Brook (see note 4). You will respond to it with all the necessary details.

You mention the financial situation and the debts. It is clear that this is difficult and troubling. But unfortunately, this is also the case for the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*, including in the United States. And according to the accounts of the elder Chassidim*, this has been so throughout all the years of this Yeshivah's* existence. Despite this, they held firm, and moreover, the Yeshivah* grew and developed. Through the mercy invoked by our masters, the directors of the Yeshivah*, it will continue to develop, together with all its branches.

Fortunate is the lot of all those who make efforts and carry out this sacred mission. You have already achieved considerable success, since you have begun the construction of a building of which a great part is already completed. Without a doubt, it will soon be entirely finished. And the reward of those who have made the effort is explained by various texts. It is impossible to measure, and it is granted in Hashem's* manner, "measure for measure" (see note 5), but in a much broader manner, in the form of true satisfaction — that is, Chassidic* satisfaction — from one's children.

You make reference to the symbolic sum I sent you. This does not come from the coffers of the Yeshivos* and schools, but from one of the funds belonging to my father-in-law, the Rebbe*. He writes (see note 6), in one of his letters, that a donation from his fund facilitates the fulfillment of the promise of our Sages* that "whoever receives a coin from Iyov* is blessed." You will therefore understand that the amount is of no importance, or perhaps even... (see note 7).

I hope that you made good use of Pesach*, as well as the auspicious days that preceded it, in the proper manner. Likewise, you are no doubt preparing a suitable program for Lag BaOmer*, in order to positively influence the students.

May Hashem* grant that you achieve success in your sacred mission of making them into Chassidim*, who fear Hashem* and are learned.

With my blessing to share good news regarding all of this, and with greetings to the Chassidim*, in particular the great Rav* and Chassid*, R. Ch. Sh. B. (see note 4),

לפלא שמאז מכתבו עם תמונת הבנין המוסגר בו, לא נתקבל מהם כל ידיעות ובודאי נתקבל מכתבי מכבר כתוב ע"ש הרה"ח כו' הרח"ש שי' ברוק ויענו עליו בפרטיות הדרושה.

ובמ"ש בהנוגע להמצב הכספי החובות וכו'. הנה אף שמובן שקשה הדבר ומבלבל, אבל לצערנו עד"ז הוא המצב בישיבת תו"ת אפילו בארצוה"ב, וכפי סיפורי זקני החסידים מעין זה הי' המצב החומרי ברבות שנות קיום הישיבה, ובכ"ז לא לבד שהחזיקו מעמד אלא אדרבה גדלה והתפתחה, ובודאי ע"י התעוררות ר"ר של נשיאי מנהלי הישיבה תתגדל ותתפתח עוד יותר וגם הסניפים שלה בכלל, ואשרי חלקו של כאו"א המשתדל ועובד עבודת הקדש בכגון זה, וכמו שראו כבר הצלחה מופלגה שעלה בידם להתחיל בבנין אשר חלק חשוב ממנו כבר נגמר, ובודאי יוגמר כולו בעתיד לא רחוק, וגדול שכר המשתדלים מבואר בכ"מ אשר הוא אין לשער שהוא במדתו של הקב"ה מדה כנגד מדה אלא שכמה פעמים ככה ברוב נחת אמיתי שהוא נחת חסידותי בבנים ובנות.

במ"ש אודות הסכום הסמלי ששלחתי, הנה אינו שייך לקופות ישיבות ומוסדות חינוך, אלא הוא מאחת הקופות של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שכותב באחד ממכתביו בענין כגון דא, שבהקופה שלו מתקיים ע"ד מרז"ל, כל הנוטל פרוטה מאיוב מתברך ומזה מובן שריבוי הכמות אינו נוגע כלל וכלל, ואפשר שגם כו'...

תקותי שניצלו ימי הפסח נוסף על ימי הסגולה שלפני זה באופן המתאים, וכן מכינים תכנית מתאימה לנצל יום הל"ג בעומר בהשפעה על התלמידים ויה"ר שיצליחו בעבודתם בקדש לעשותם חסידים יראי שמים ולומדים.

בברכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור ופ"ש כאנ"ש שי' ובפרט הרה"ג והרה"ח וכו' וכו' הרחש"ב שי'.
