Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter, which was undated. You ask to be guided on the paths of Chassidus*.

It is clear that this depends on the personality of each individual, his aptitudes, and his way of life. It would therefore be good and judicious for you to make contact with the youth of the Chabad* association who are near you. They will introduce you to the elder Chassidim* of your locale, and you will follow their instructions.

Obviously, what has just been said is in addition to the points of general scope, beyond the three daily study sessions pertaining to every individual, established by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us. These cover the Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*, and are well known. These general points include the in-depth study of Chassidus*, at least several times a week, and the adoption of its usages and practices.

The entirety of the Torah* was received (see note 1) when the declaration was made: "We will do and (then) we will understand" (see note 2). And the same applies to each constituent part of our holy Torah*. One cannot, from the outset, pose questions. One must first accept the teachings that have already proven themselves. Then, shortly thereafter, one begins to understand.

May Hashem* grant that you share good news regarding all of this.

במענה על מכתבו (בלי הוראת זמן הכתיבה) בו שואל אודות הוראות בדרכי החסידות.

הנה מובן שתלויות הן בתכונות נפש השואל, כשרונותיו, ואופן הסתדרותו, ולכן טוב ונכון שיתקשר עם צעירי אגודת חב"ד אשר בסביבתו ועל ידם יוודע מזקני אנ"ש הנמצאים שם וכהוראתם יעשה, ומובן שזהו נוסף על הנקודות הכלליות (והם נוסף על שלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש מתקנת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים), לימוד בתורת החסידות לעיונא עכ"פ איזה פעמים בשבוע והליכה בהדרכותי' ומנהגי', וכמו שקבלת התורה בכללותה היתה ע"י הקדמת נעשה לנשמע, כן הוא גם בהנוגע לכל חלק וחלק מתוה"ק היינו לא להתחיל מקושיות וכו' אלא לקבל מראש הוראות אלו המנוסים כבר לכגון דא ואז במשך זמן לא ארוך תבוא גם ההבנה, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל האמור.
