To the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav* David (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter of 8 Adar*, in which you inform me of your activities on behalf of the women and girls of Chabad*. Your letter seems to indicate that even now, the Chassidim* who take an interest in all of this remain relatively few. Yet these accomplishments are very important, as established by the numerous statements made by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us — orally or in writing — a portion of which has even been printed.

May Hashem* grant that you find the words to explain to all those who participate in this great endeavor the merit that is theirs, the pleasure they bring to our holy masters. As for those who stand on the sidelines or who participate only in an incidental manner, you will describe to them the harm they cause themselves and the lack that results in the environment where they could conduct their work. And this lack affects the totality of the Chassidim*. It is difficult to say more, so painful is this.

You inform me of your birthday. You have surely observed, on this occasion, the custom adopted by the Chassidim* (see note 2) in recent years. May Hashem* grant that you have a year of success in your personal concerns and in your communal endeavors.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מח' אדר בו כותב אודות הפעולות בשטח נשי ובנות חב"ד, וכנראה ממכתבו שאפילו עתה מועטים מאנ"ש אלו המתענינים בזה מתאים לגודל ערך הענין למרות מרבית הדברים בזה מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בעל פה ובכתב וחלק מהם גם בהנדפסים. ויה"ר שימצא אותיות המתאימות להסביר לכל אלו הנוטלים חלק בעבודה גדולה אודות זכותם וגודל הנחת רוח שגורמים לנשיאינו הק', וכן לעורר את אלו שעדיין עומדים מן הצד או שעובדים בזה בדרך מהיכי תיתי, על העול אשר עושים לעצמם נוסף על העול והחסרון שגורמים בהסביבה בה הם יכולים לפעול, שהרי חסרון הוא בכל הציור קומה של אנ"ש, וקשה להאריך בדבר המכאיב.

ולהודעתו מיום ההולדת שלו, הנה בטח נהג במנהג אנ"ש בשנים האחרונות דיום ההולדת, ויה"ר שתהי' לו שנת הצלחה בענינים הפרטים ובענינים הכללים.
