To the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, Rav* Meir (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

You inform me that you have just had a son, with a good Mazal*.

May Hashem* grant that you bring him into the covenant of our father Avraham* (see note 2), and just as he will enter this covenant, you will likewise lead him to the Torah*, to the wedding canopy, and to good deeds. You will educate him, together with your wife and all your children, in abundance.

With my blessing of Mazal Tov*,

You ask me regarding his name (see note 3). It is clear that there have been many Gershon Menachem Mendels in the world. If both the father and the mother give their agreement for this name, may Hashem* grant that he (see note 4) have long days and good years.

You mention the practice of being a Sandak* twice (see note 5) (see note 6). I have never observed such a practice among the Chassidim*.
